A lovely listen

Great narration by Alex Wyndham, as always. Such a pleasure to listen to his voice. This was a comfort listen, both H and h endured their share of angst and were finally rewarded. Love Stella Riley’s gradually building plots, she’s always a “must read” for me.

The narration was so difficult to listen to, I adjusted the soeed upwards and still could hardly stand it. I like Caroline Linden, though this wasn't her best effort, but next time I think I'll choose the print version.

Very disappointed in Sabrina Jeffries, I’ve read much better from her in the past. The romance was tepid and contrived, the dialogue was without wit, and the characters quite unlikeable. Beverly Crick’s somewhat stilted narration didn’t help. I forced myself to finish and I’m hoping I can return this one. Don’t waste your time or credit.

Narrator problems

Aside from a fine Scots accent, Ms. Morrison‘s narration lacks fluency, and differentiated voices. She seems unable to portray a male voice, unfortunately. As such, her narration spoils the story. And as the story is nothing to write home about, it could’ve used the help. I found by speeding up the narration to 1.2 x, it was much more tolerable. This book finishes the series, for those who have been following the tale.

Terrible narration

This one goes in the DNF category, because I just couldn’t listen to it anymore. This has to be the worst female narrator ever, completely ruined the story. Male narrator wasn’t quite so bad, but really I have no idea if it’s a decent story or not, because sadly, just couldn’t listen anymore.

Avoid this one if you like character development, plot, and decent writing. Repetitive dialogue, very unrealistic plot, Time listening to this one is time you won’t get back. Even Andy Arndt and Sebastian York can’t save it.

Don’t miss this!

If you’re a fan of British history, great writing and intricate plots, you’re sure to enjoy this offering from Nicola Cornick. Ms. Cornick has come up with an ingenious explanation for the fate of the “princes in the Tower”, while at the same time weaving actual historical events with a mystery in present day. Excellently narrated, this is an audio treat, not to be missed!

Don’t bother

Not much to unpack with this one, just one boring sex scene after another. Good narration from this duo, as usual, but seriously, I kept skipping ahead, hoping there was a plot or some interesting dialogue to find. Nope. My first in this series, and I won’t be looking for more.
