Very enjoyable

This book was very wonderfully written! The way the author described the world made me feel immersed in it. I felt like most of the named characters had depth. The story as a whole was compelling and kept me going though it was extremely long. The only downside is the middle really dragged. I felt like they got a little lost in the lust/love story to the point that it hindered the progress of the narrative.

Just so beautiful

We have an ache in my chest from reading this! Like I want to cry but have hope. It had so many painful trigger for me in here but the beautiful story kept me going. Great start to 2024 as far as my reading goes!

Refreshing

These books are like a breath of fresh air! A great continuation of the series and it’s good to see the author didn’t make useless the original characters like a lot of writers do when they switch perspectives to their children.

It actually lives up to the hype

I admit that i went into this expecting to be underwhelmed due to the amount of hype and promotion this was getting but it’s actually amazing! I got sucked in quick and stayed hooked the whole time! The characters are dynamic and there’s great representation for people with disabilities, people of color, and the lgbtq+ communities. Everyone just exists and it’s refreshing. There’s is great intensity and you feel every tense moment and the main character change with the training and circumstances. Highly recommend!

Less cozy but still good!

This is much less cozy than the first but still had some cozy vibes. Definitely check your triggers because this one has some rough bits. The story is progressing and a lot of this is continuation of the first and setting up the next but it resolved some of the first books open story lines and filled out some of the side characters. There’s some problematic characterizations of marginalized groups but I feel like it’s more ignorance as opposed of intentionally harmful. But that’s up for each reader to decide on their own.

Amazing cozy read

I loved everything about this! It’s perfectly cozy though check your triggers because there’s a few! The story is well written and the narrator is absolutely perfect in this. I started recommending this to other people before I was even a third of the way through. The whole things is warm and comforting and funny in subtle ways except for the random juvenile name play chapter that seemed a little out of place but they tied it in and it added a touch of goofiness that cropped up a couple of times.

This book was thought provoking, heart wrenching, and macabre in a good way! It continues to build on the first book beautifully and doesn’t hold any punches when it comes to the hard things. It goes places I wouldn’t think to go and outs it’s main characters through hell. Good read!

Great ending

I’m so glad this is finally on audio! I’ve really enjoyed this beautiful and heartbreaking series and found this book to be the perfect end. There were some slow parts and parts that felt unnecessary but overall everything worked together to paint a full picture of the world during that time of the apocalypse. The ending was super satisfying as well!
