I have read a few stories by Ms. Linhardt and I have enjoyed every one. Ms. Linhardt has a knack for telling a great story in several different genres. I am always impressed with how well thought out and immersive the world she builds is.

Why They Killed is a fast-paced, adrenaline fueled story about the aftermath brought to the people of Ohio after a virus ravaged society. What starts as a story following gruff Rocket and his annoying tagalong (I personally find him adorable), quickly turns into a struggle for survival. In a genre that can easily be overdone, it's a wonderful take on the post-apocalyptic zombie genre. The book does not leave you feeling unsatisfied or thinking that the monsters overshadow the humans. In fact, it shows us that humans can be more monstrous than the infected.

The characters are real, relatable, and leave an impression once you've finished the story. I cannot wait for the sequel to be released.
