Historia
Criminologist Martin Knight lives a gilded life and is a thorn in the side of the police. But then his wife, Liz, goes missing. There is no good explanation and no sign of Martin.... To make things worse, Liz is the ex-girlfriend of DCI Craig Gillard who is drawn into the investigation. Is it just a missing person or something worse? And what relevance do the events around the shocking Girl F case, so taken up by Knight, have to do with the present? The truth is darker than you could ever have imagined.

Historia
With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.

Historia
In this landmark book of popular science, Daniel E. Lieberman - chair of the department of human evolutionary biology at Harvard University and a leader in the field - gives us a lucid and engaging account of how the human body evolved over millions of years, even as it shows how the increasing disparity between the jumble of adaptations in our Stone Age bodies and advancements in the modern world is occasioning this paradox: greater longevity but increased chronic disease.

The number of false information
Revisado: 02-21-25
The number of false information, confirmation bias and popular ideas that sound awesome but are obsolete and scientifically proven wrong in this book is staggering . This is a book about what someone thinks human evolution was like, not what actual history and science says.

Historia
We've all had the desire to travel through time and to see what life will be like for our future selves. While we want to envision the best possible future, why do some of us fail to make decisions that will truly make that a reality, while others succeed? Why do some of us choose steak over vegetables at dinner, waving off concerns of raising our cholesterol? Why do some splurge on luxury cars that we can't really afford, while others choose cheaper models and save more for the future? Why are so many of us so disconnected from our future selves?

Amazing dissection of the subject! This is more an interesting lecture from your favorite professor than a motivation book but if you read this one with Benjamin Hardy , you will get the perfect combo!

Everyone has secrets, and Rachel Holloway is no exception. She’s worked hard to keep the past where it belongs: dead and buried. And so far, she’s been very successful. But now the small newspaper where she works wants to produce a podcast on a cold case: the disappearance 12 years ago of young Molly Forster. Some secrets should never see the light of day, and, as far as Rachel is concerned, whatever happened to little Molly is one of them.

Not my favorite but still awesome
Revisado: 06-07-23
Wonderful development of characters, Hoon is his usual loud foul mouthed self, incredibly funny yet respectful when it counts. I guess I liked this one a bit less bc of the boxing/fighting which takes up a lot of the book, and I’m not a fan… but overall JD Kirk is still one of my favorite authors!

Historia
Imagine undergoing an operation without anesthesia performed by a surgeon who refuses to sterilize his tools - or even wash his hands. This was the world of medicine when Thomas Dent Mütter began his trailblazing career as a plastic surgeon in Philadelphia during the middle of the 19th century. Although he died at just 48, Mütter was an audacious medical innovator who pioneered the use of ether as anesthesia, the sterilization of surgical tools, and a compassion-based vision for helping the severely deformed, which clashed spectacularly with the sentiments of his time.
