Historia
A moving coming-of-age story set in the 1900s, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn follows the lives of 11-year-old Francie Nolan, her younger brother Neely, and their parents, Irish immigrants who have settled in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. Johnny Nolan is as loving and fanciful as they come, but he is also often drunk and out of work, unable to find his place in the land of opportunity.

Love this book
Revisado: 08-05-18
I have read this about 10 times before. I am listening now with my husband and kid and it is still just as great. The music between chapters is very weird. I would still listen to this again and again. Such a beautiful story.

Historia
Anyone who saw an episode of Saturday Night Live between 1999 and 2006 knows Rachel Dratch. She was hilarious! So what happened to her? After a misbegotten part as Jenna on the pilot of 30 Rock, Dratch was only getting offered roles as "Lesbians. Secretaries. Sometimes secretaries who are lesbians." Her career at a low point, Dratch suddenly had time for yoga, dog- sitting, learning Spanish - and dating. After all, what did a forty-something single woman living in New York have to lose?

Historia
Tiffany can't avoid being funny: it's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.

What a Woman!
Revisado: 06-18-18
I bought this after seeing Tiffany appear on the The Daily Show. I had seen her in Girl's Trip a few weeks before. She is so real, warm, and entertaining. The stories might shock a lot of people but she really shares her life. Her tales of escaping/returning/escaping her abusive husband made me and my husband shake our heads, and tear up a bit, but like she said "I just wanted my husband". Her stories are real, the friendships she shares about other comics supporting her are wonderful. She makes me laugh and I hope that she gets only the best in life!

Historia
These memoirs of the author's first twenty-four years are thoughtful, informative, and highly entertaining. They not only portray a young woman and her unique family in San Francisco's Chinatown, but they are rich in the details that light up a world within the world of America. The third-person singular style is rooted in Chinese literary form, reflecting cultural disregard for the individual, yet Jade Snow Wong's story also is typically American.

Revisado: 06-18-18
My Grandmother gave me this book signed from the author. I have read it up to 60 times before. I was glad to share it with my husband and daughter on a road trip. They were both so engaged as I was. Jade Snow Wong's life was so charmed. It is a wonderful book telling the story of a girl of traditional Chinese immigrant parents and how they raised their children.

The Narrator was excellent
Revisado: 06-09-17
Would you try another book from Debbie Nathan and/or Marguerite Gavin?
I'm unsure if I would read another.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
It was most interesting to hear how a psychotherapist destroyed a woman's life, tried to make herself a hero in the psychotherapy society, and then how the entire world ate it up. There was too much back story on the author of Sybil, Flora Rheta Schreiber, to make it interesting. I had to really push to get through the last 2 hours.

Wonderful
Revisado: 06-09-17
Would you listen to Where the Red Fern Grows again? Why?
My husband and I listened to this with our daughter on road trips. It was wonderful. We had read it as kids, so we really wanted to introduce our daughter to this book. She really enjoyed it and there were many times that we sat in our car in a parking lot waiting for a chapter to end. The narrator was wonderful.
What about Anthony Heald’s performance did you like?
When he read the initial part of helping a wandering dog and at the end when he let the dog go. It was all so emotional. Three of us cried in the car many times.
