Would you consider the audio edition of Evolve Your Brain to be better than the print version?

I am using them hand in hand because I learn one way through my ears, and another way through my eyes. I became conscious of this by listening to this very book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character in this book is ME (YOU). I took every word as if it were written for me personally, to help me live a better life.

Which scene was your favorite?

Though there are no "scenes" per se, Dr. Joe Dispenza explains everything so clearly and there are diagrams to refer to (PDF download available at the beginning of the book....essential!). I am not an academic nor a scholar and I understood every scientific idea because of the method of the writing.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It wasn't possible as there is so much necessary information I had to turn it off and process it as I went along. I plan to re-listen to it soon, and read along with the book.

Any additional comments?

I am 67 years here, and my old thinking says" I wish I had heard this years ago". However, throughout the book, the author inserts personal examples and I realized how I knew so much of this already and had been using it through out my life here, only unconsciously. I did not know I could call upon these tools when I needed them! Now I know how to do that. It will take work to completely remake my habits and attitudes, but by just listening to this book, it has already gotten into my brain and my brain has changed for the better. I feel calm and confident now, and so compassionate towards myself and others. I recommend this book to everyone, especially if you think everything in your life is just fine.

What did you love best about The Wonder Spot?

I loved Melissa Bank's book "A Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing" and have read it many times. I now love this one too. I love the simplicity, the slight sarcastic humor, the situational details......I just love how she writes, and now I love how she speaks!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wonder Spot?

I cannot pinpoint one incident. I loved it all, the way it flowed.

What about Melissa Bank’s performance did you like?

I enjoy people's voices that don't go all over the place and hers, to some, may be a bit monotone. But in life, I find I love that in people, especially if they are saying hilarious things with no reaction. Hard to explain. I love her voice and could listen to this book over and over just for the steady flow and clarity of tone.

Who was the most memorable character of The Wonder Spot and why?

Of course I love Sophie the most. But I also enjoyed her brothers.

Any additional comments?

This is not an adventure or thriller or even a complex story. To me it was a simple story of a girl who grows up into a woman and some of the things she went through to get where she was going. As a woman, it just felt good to hear life situations without a lot of action and details of horrible things.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. Being a liberal myself, I have often thought about some of these issues. Being white, I have felt that it is strange that mostly white people make the decisions as to the "issues" of African Americans here in America. This has helped me to look from a different perspective at the race card being played so often. I was born in 1950 and today I wonder why things have not really changed. This book helped me to see why things as they were are still perpetuated as we evolve.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The author, of course.

Which scene was your favorite?

This is non-fiction, so no scenes really. The part about affirmative action was most enlightening.

If you could give Please Stop Helping Us a new subtitle, what would it be?

The title is perfect, so honest and so un-flowered. I so appreciate the honesty.

Any additional comments?

Again, liberals! Please read this book with an open mind. It's not too late for us to change and let go of the illusion that we are helping.

If you could sum up Julie of the Wolves in three words, what would they be?

Any additional comments?

As I listened to this book, I welled up with tears many times. I guess I really needed to feel some emotion because once completed, I felt rejuvenated, like I had revisited every wonderful moment I have ever seen on screen. I was very surprised by my reaction. I highly recommend this book. Frank Langella's writing is so humble, as is his soft voice. I could hear the emotion in some of the recollections. I loved this book.

Where does Rascal: A Dog and His Boy rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

At the top!!!

What did you like best about this story?

It is all from the dog (Rascal)'s point of view. Sort of like "Babe" movies, where all the dogs, cats, etc. talk to each other and try to get through to the people (two legs).

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I loved the voices. At the beginning, Rascal is a young pup and the voice is a little southern boy. As Rascal ages, Hill aged his voice and inflection. He did a great job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

I listen to or read books constantly, some being very serious or adult type fiction, some are non-fiction. This was a welcomed refreshing change. I loved the whole book. I will listen to it again. It is for all ages, and especially for animal lovers, and those of us who feel our pets think like people (I know they do, but that's just my opinion). Rascal's innocense and honesty is moving, and again, the voice is perfect for a young southern puppy. I also loved how the life of the animals is mixed in with the life of all the people around them, and showed how dogs miss their "two leggeds" and how animals help people and we sometimes don't know it. Take a chance on this one. It's like a Shrek movie after a month of documentaries.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who likes linear and shallow romance novels with a dull edge.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Anything NOT by Nora Roberts

Have you listened to any of Gary Littman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I liked his voice. He did a good job. It was the text that riled me.

What character would you cut from Northern Lights?

I liked Nate, the one telling the story. It was the cheap stereotypical small town women that I found disgusting. I like most stories about Alaska, fiction or non-fiction. I could have kept listening if not for those slutty women. I don't think Nora did her research. I live in an isolated small town in Wy, and have never met a woman like that here, and per my reading, they aren't in Alaska either. Those kind of women are usually in big cities at cheap corner bars.

Any additional comments?

It was a waste of money.
