Very enjoyable for the train commute, drop in and out as you please. I would have liked the author to explore the collapse a little more. I enjoyed the narration.

Wonderfully narrated and very funny in dry, I presume Morrisey way. Excellent listen although he may have dwelled a little too long on the court case, but it's his retribution.

Excellent Read / Listen
Revisado: 06-19-14
If you could sum up An Officer and a Spy in three words, what would they be?
I wish I had this this all those years ago in O level history. At times I felt I was trapped in Kafka's "The Trial" such was the claustrophobic feel of the book.
What did you like best about this story?
The narration was like fabulous acting, excellent.
If you could rename An Officer and a Spy, what would you call it?
J' accuse !

Historia
From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyles kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared Kyle so much they named him al-Shaitan ("the devil") and placed a bounty on his head.

America is in the thrall of a full-scale socioeconomic breakdown. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation destroys the value of the dollar, and the population, unprepared for hardship, panics. Practically overnight, the high technology infrastructure and chains of supply collapse and wholesale rioting and looting grip every city. Law enforcement, transportation, electricity, fuel, and medical supplies are all in the past now, as the country staggers beneath its own weight.

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. Revisado: 04-23-12
What did you love best about The Hunger Games?
I really enjoyed this audio book, I looked forward to the journey and was left wanting more.
What other book might you compare The Hunger Games to and why?
I guess I would say it was in the vain of a popular vampire series...
Have you listened to any of Carolyn McCormick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I read the second and hope to listen to the third.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No but very enjoyable, I'm sure there is a message in there...
Any additional comments?
Great to listen to the audio for name pronunciations and I liked the reader too.

It is 1956. Stevens, the ageing butler of Dalington Hall, has just embarked on a motoring trip through the west of England that will become a journey deep into his past. As he winds his way through the English countryside, from the medieval charm of Salisbury, through Dorset and Devon and on to Cornwall, Stevens reflects on a life in which professionalism and service have been the guiding principles, and personal relations have been kept in their proper place.

The Remains of the Day
Revisado: 06-24-11
I love the film which always helps when listening to the audio as you can picture the characters and the house too.
Well, the audio wasn't the best went quiet on several occasions to the point it sounded as though it had been rerecorded. At one stage there was a very strange jump in the audio where I felt I had lost my place.
I would hope that Audible fix this, please. Overall the narration was good and captured the style of the author well.
As for the story, Ishiguro adopts a writing style where the reader / listener is asked to view the main character with some pathos. I found this extremely difficult until the scene in the bus shelter (near the end) where there is some recognition of his "...remains of the day. For this passage alone it is worth a listen.
