Historia
It all started with a bet. When my young son inherited half of his great grandfather’s historic inn, I decided to move us both to the place where I grew up. Notice I said half of the Inn. The other half now belonged to Levi Miller, the famous quarterback who had other ideas about what we should do with the property. We won’t mention that I accidentally injured him during our first meeting, causing him to get eight stitches. You could say we got off on the wrong foot. We bickered a lot as we both moved into the property while we figured things out.

A nice break from reality
Revisado: 03-04-22
While slightly predictable at times, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Things are so serious right now with COVID and Russia. I needed a jaunt into fantasy land and this was a great offering. Listen with your AirPods though…I blushed many a time and even uttered noises out loud I wasn’t aware I was making. Enjoy! know I did…

Next stop…Interior Castle
Revisado: 09-12-21
I didn’t really care for the first book of Caroline’s that I purchased, but to be fair, I hadn’t made it through the first two or so chapters before deciding as much. This one I actually mistook for Theresa of Avila’s book, Interior Castle, but I’m so glad that I did. I have studied a number of the saints and mystics that Caroline refers to in this book and I am so intrigued now with Theresa of Avila that I cannot wait to begin her book. I find modern spirituality distasteful for a number of reasons, chiefly due to spiritual materialism. Caroline offers the path of the modern mystic, or I think she calls it “mystics outside monasteries.” This is a great guide for keeping your intention and humility in check, while offering some beautiful prayers and guidance. I meditate in addition to the contemplative lifestyle and while I wasn’t totally enthralled with some of the guided visualizations, I could see them being beautifully helpful to those seeking to get started and look for good guidance that won’t take you too far off into the “astral circus”. I just didn’t find the practices terribly necessary for myself at this juncture. Not to say I won’t in the future. But, as far as the rest of the information in this book about the path and walking the straight and narrow, she does a lovely and very clearly defined job of taking you by the hand and leading the way. I can’t wait to discover Theresa’s work now. I’m captivated at this point. I am thoroughly chuffed to have accidentally purchased this one.

What can I say? Marianne is where I go when I need comfort and clarity
Revisado: 03-17-21
While I don’t believe (personally) that this is the highest expression of Divine Truth, when I’m completely caught in the human realm, I always find comfort in her teachings. This one is an oldie that I had not listened to in a long time, but it held just the pearls of wisdom I required. If you are on the path of the mystic in the world of today, I recommend this title.

Only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 stars was that it’s a lot of review from a number of other books/recordings of his that I have purchased. I love Ram Dass though. I could listen to him forever!

Historia
Very few people know that Mark Twain wrote a major work on Joan of Arc. Still fewer know that he considered it not only his most important, but also his best work. He spent 12 years in research and many months in France doing archival work, and then made several attempts until he felt he finally had the story he wanted to tell.

This book is so stunning an account of Joan of Arc. I feel like I was there, that I know her, and that I got an insider’s glimpse into the story of her life. This book was so wonderful and charming, even with the end such as it was. Thank you, Audible, for bringing this one into my library.

Transcendent wisdom... and THEN some.
Revisado: 12-30-18
This is perhaps the most beautiful book upon which I have ever stumbled. It is as though Thérèse and I are one soul in the same, yearning for the same path and Divine light, becoming of the same surrender to Christ. Beautifully written — simple yet powerful, I will keep this book close to my heart and no doubt listen to it time and time again. I feel so small in comparison to both she and her deeds, yet through her words I understand that our intention is one and the same. Bless her writings and bless this wonderful, transformative work of hers. Truly she is a saint whose standards to which we can aspire. Thanks be to God for sharing her with us and her triumph of a story. Blessings to each and every soul who should hear of and read the words herein. An absolute treasure, this book.

Historia
"Nope, that little feller don't look like he'll amount to much." That's what almost everyone said about Little Bub. But young Joel Goss knew that Little Bub was a special colt, even though he was a runt. When schoolteacher Justin Morgan asked Joel to gentle the colt, Joel was thrilled. Little Bub proved that size and breed weren't everything. Soon word spread throughout the entire Northeast that this spirited colt could pull heavier loads than a pair of oxen and run faster than thoroughbreds.

A precious dalliance into a childhood favorite
Revisado: 08-05-17
Horses were my passion for as long as I can remember, and I owned all of MH's books as a youngster. Only now do I own a Morgan horse and to revisit this book spoke to my heart in away I couldn't have imagined. The story was vivid and the characters even more so. I could hear the sounds, the whinnies, the voices, and smell the scenery as it was described. This novel has touched my life again and I'm so grateful. I recommend this book to anyone who has ever loved a horse, particularly those horses who have beat the odds against them and changed people's opinions. I own just such a Morgan and I'm so proud that I do. Enjoy.

I love this woman
Revisado: 02-10-17
There is nothing that Marianne ever says that I don't find immediately pertinent and applicable to my life. And when I apply the material the miracles are instant. Instant. I recommend this book to anyone who is working to become a mystic or healer, anyone who wants to know more about how to find their peace in the application of ACIM principles, and anyone who wants to learn about spirituality and the power we get in the world as a result of living the principles. It's not easy, but boy is it worth it to do so. Marianne is a great guide and knowing that her humor and perspective come with the material makes it that much more accessible.

Candide (AudioGO Edition)

Historia
When first published in 1759, Candide became an instant best seller and is now regarded as one of the key texts of the Enlightenment. Voltaire’s preoccupations with evil and with various kinds of human folly and intolerance found a perfect vehicle in this philosophical tale. A master storyteller, he combined often wildly entertaining action with profoundly serious sense, parodying the traditional chivalric and oriental tales with which his public was more familiar.

A much deeper value than I thought in highschool
Revisado: 10-21-15
What made the experience of listening to Candide (AudioGO Edition) the most enjoyable?
The accents and voices that the narrator used were awesome. His voices really hit the nail on the head. I find these characters to be relatable and hilarious in their accounts. I think this work was way ahead of its time, and it seems more like observational comedy and spiritual lesson than it does historical account or work for a school project. I loved this book in school, but not as much as I love it now. Voltaire is a witty and sharp writer, and his message is not only beneficial to all but I believe it to be absolutely true.
What did you like best about this story?
The humor that is peppered throughout is hilarious. This book is a master work also because it really gives some perspective to the complaints of modern day man. People lived through these hard times and they were murdered, raped, pillaged, enslaved and treated poorly only to struggle to exist. We get upset when we lose our cell phone signals. A little healthy perspective goes a long way!
Which character – as performed by Jack Davenport – was your favorite?
Candide, of course! Candide and I have way too much in common for me to not love him. Also, Cacambo is an awesome character. I really love his insight and dedication.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book made me laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh. Then I laughed some more. Then I listened to it again so I could laugh some more. Well done, Voltaire!
