Looking for a sweet, sexy listen with some great narrators, look no further than Dirty Charmer by Emma Chase. It is a part of the Royally Series, but it can be listened to as a standalone.

Emma Chase picked the perfect title for this one because Tommy is truly a “dirty charmer.” He exudes sex appeal and likes to talk dirty, especially to Abby, but he is also quite the charmer. He certainly knows what buttons to push where Abby is concerned, but there is just something so special about him.

Abby is a planner, and she can be a bit “stuffy,” but she has grown up in an aristocratic family. She also likes routine and structure. She is driven as well. She has to be if she is going to be the surgeon she has always dreamed of being.

When Tommy is hired for security, her world is turned upside down. She had already met Tommy years before, and he left quite the impression...one she has mixed feelings about. Despite the seriousness of Tommy’s job, he is also fun, completely opposite from Abby. He brings some adventure into her life, and this was one of those stories in which I loved watching the two characters fall for one another.

The narrators were spot on. Andi Arndt brought Abby to life. She captured the essence of who Abby was. I had never heard Rupert Channing narrate anything before, but I do LOVE his voice. This is a sure win if you like an opposites attract tale. The two narrators make it a very quick listen. The only regret I had was that it ended way too soon for me!!!!

Who knew a story with such heavy and oftentimes, dark subject matter could be so beautifully written! The subject matter and characters are not roses and sunshine, but it is also a story of kindness and how one person can impact others' lives.

The main character is Toby, and I have never had a character make such an impression on me. He proclaims himself as a jerk, and he really has no friends or family. He lives in a home with other misfits and does maintenance in exchange for room and board. Every day he fights a darkness that no one else can see. At first glance, this is all you see. Yet, there is so much going on underneath the surface. The first part of the book is told in Toby's voice. I saw him through his own eyes, and he thinks he is nothing. But, that couldn't be further from the truth. When he meets Alice, she brings some light into his life, but is that enough to conquer the dark voices that haunt him?

The second part of the book is told from the perspective of others.

"There are two sides to every story. This is The Other Side of Toby's. The side that lends perspective. And changes everything." For me this changed so much...my heart was broken, but not in the way you might think. It broke that Toby could never see that other people saw him and saw him completely opposite of how he saw himself! This boy was goodness personified, yet he couldn't see it!!!!

The third part of the book is "when reality is introduced to the otherside." This is where Toby begins to ever so slightly mute the negative voices in his head, and where he will determine the next steps of his life.

I love reading, but I have to say listening to this novel, was an EPIC experience! The narrators packed such a punch. They captured every emotion I was feeling!!!!

The written word is special, but the spoken word can be life-changing. I hope that if someone is experiencing anything similar to Toby or the people he helps, that Kim Holden's own words will help them. I know she has made me change my thinking....kindness matters, we don't know the effect we can have on others' lives, and we don't know what others are going through. We need to really "see" one another!!!! Phenomenal book with a phenomenal message and and phenomnal cast of narrators!!!!!

Super sweet Christmas read that can be read/listened to at any time of the year!!!!

Yes, I know it’s May, but this was the perfect, uplifting read/listen during this strange time we are in now! Abby and her sister are twins and have been even more inseparable since losing their parents years ago. They go to Cringle Cove (LOVE the name of the little town) every year, even though Abby hates Christmas. Every year is the same, binge-watching slasher movies instead of Christmas ones. This year will be different for her even if she doesn’t know it when a handsome stranger introduces himself in a cafe.

Dex is the complete opposite of Abby. He loves the holidays, but this year it is hard for him to muster his usual jolly self. He has just promised his ex he will not reveal to her parents that the two are not in fact together. Every second he spends with her and them, it gets harder. He finds refuge in a cafe where a beautiful but strange girl captures his attention. He finds that the two share a similar taste in writers. Thus, begins a morning ritual that turns to friendship to a pretty serious crush!!!

The story itself is sweet with some sexy moments hidden in there. I ADORED both Abby and Dex. They really complemented each other. She would come to see Christmas through Dex’s eyes, although it might not completely make her fall in love with the holiday. The relationship between Abby and her sister was so special. Despite the story being short, Kate Benson left nothing out.

I loved the narrator, Jillian Yetter. She is a new narrator to me, and I thought she did an excellent job. When a book is told in dual POVs, with male and female characters, I usually prefer both a male and female narrator. However, Yetter was perfect. She did an excellent job of capturing the essence of the book and the characters.

Like I said, this is a book listened to at any time of the year. It is short and sweet, with great characters, and is an excellent pick-me-up!!!!

Trying to Score is a great addition to the already amazing series!

This is a somewhat different review for me as I read the book and listened to it on Audible! I loved both editions!

I have always been curious about Teddy and Sara. They have had a sizzling chemistry that is always just beneath the surface. However, I had no clue that these two knew each other years before and that explosive chemistry they share is nothing new!

I have loved all the guys in the series, and I really like how Ryan always makes each one of them unique. I end up loving something different about each guy! I fell for Teddy’s sweetness. Yes, he is gorgeous, but it was his sweetness that totally stole my heart.

I loved Sara as well. On the surface, her sweetness doesn’t always shine through, but she has a wonderful heart. She is loyal to her friends and those that she loves. She is independent and fierce. I admired her determination and how hard she worked to achieve her goals.

I thoroughly relished the flashbacks of these two in college and seeing how much they have changed since those days. My heart just melted watching these two fall back in love.

I loved reading the book, but I loved the Audible edition even more. Jason Clarke and Savannah Peachwood really brought Teddy and Sara to life. They made a 6 hour drive fly by for me. They truly captured the essence of both characters.

I have long been a fan of Kendall Ryan. I fell in love with her style of writing and characters from the very first word I ever read from her. She taps into my emotions, yet gives me lots of laughs as well. She knows how to combine humor, romance, steam, and sweetness just perfectly!

The Assist by Rebecca Jenshak was a fantastic story with fantastic narration! Jenshak really puts a twist on the athlete/tutor romance. It's actually the jock that is the tutor. There isn't anything sexier than a smart man, and Wes is an athlete too! No wonder Blair fell for him like she did!!!

Both Wes and Blair were great characters. They complemented each other perfectly, making each one better. There wasn't too much angst. They both have to adjust their life expectations when life throws them a curveball. That is a part of becoming an adult. Wes had a few moments when I wanted to throw something at him, but he does redeem himself. I really enjoyed watching these two fall in love.

I also loved the secondary characters, like Vanessa and Joel. However, my favorite by far was Gabby, Blair's childhood friend. I really LOVED her, and she is a big reason that Blair is the wonderful person that she is. I'm so glad to see she has her own story in a later book.

The narrators, Ern Mallon and Jason Clarke, were outstanding narrators. I didn't just enjoy their voices, but they made me believe they were Blair and Wes. They pulled me heart and soul into their story.

I'm so glad I found Rebecca Jenshak, and I'm looking forward to listening/reading more from her!

Sweet and Sexy Romance from Kendall Ryan

Playing For Keeps by Kendall Ryan is a sweet, sexy hockey romance!

Owen and Justin have been friends forever. Elise was Owen’s annoying little sister until one day Justin saw her as someone completely different...sweet, intelligent, and sexy. He wanted her, but he knew he could never have her for two reasons.

She was Owen’s little sister.
Because of his own past, he thought he wasn’t good enough for her.

Elise has wanted Justin as long as she could remember. However, she always avoided that because of his reputation as a manwhore. She isn’t into one-night stands. It’s funny what happens when destiny or fate has other ideas. One night the two cross that line they have drawn in the sand, and the feelings they have for one another grow even more complicated.

The friendship between Justin and Elise laid the foundation for a great relationship, but it wasn’t easy for them to find their forever. Justin has relationship “hang ups,” and he knows dating Elise will definitely affect his friendship with Owen. Elise is afraid to give her heart to Justin just to have him crush it.

There were several things that stood out about the book. Elise and Justin’s story is told from both of their POVs, so I was able to see how they truly felt about one another as well as their insecurities. I liked the way Ryan included things from their past that showed the bond they always had. The cast of secondary characters really added to the book. I really LOVED the fact that Ryan also didn’t follow the same pattern in which a couple fall for each other, then break up, and get back together again. There really wasn’t that sort of angst. It was more about two people falling in love and the fear of giving yourself completely to another person.

I'm pretty picky about the narrators I listen to. Jason Clarke and Virginia Rose were fantastic. They both drew me into the story heart and soul. I listened to it in my car on a pretty long trip, and it made the hours just fly by!

I am a fan of hockey romances as well as a huge fan of Kendall Ryan, and she certainly didn’t disappoint me. She knows how to create chemistry and strike the perfect balance of emotion and steam. I am so excited to read the next book in the series.

Another Winner by Amy Daws and the Narrators

have long been a fan of Amy Daws and in love with the entire Harris clan! However, this one is probably my favorite book yet by Daws! Gareth has always intrigued me since the very beginning, and I always kept hoping the next book would be about him. Let me just say….Amy Daws made Gareth worth every single second I had to wait for him.

All of us knew Gareth was a complicated, complex man. Daws was ingenious in giving us little tidbits about him throughout the series, just whetting our appetite more for him. I had no clue just how complicated he was. With each chapter I read, I learned something new about him, and something else that made me fall even deeper for him.

Sloan is the perfect match for him. She understands him more than any other human does, even before she got to know him better. She is a pretty complex character as well, and just like with Gareth, I learned something new about her with each word I read.

The title Daws chose was perfect...surrender. That is exactly what this book is about. Gareth has always been in control, he and his sister, Vi, are the glue that has held the Harris family together. With Sloan, he is allowed to surrender completely to her, giving his heart and his trust to her...100 percent. It’s a risk for him. His heart is tender, and Sloan holds it in the palm of her hand. Sloan’s life is completely opposite of Gareth. For many years, her life has been completely out of her control. With Gareth, he lets her have control, in fact, he relishes in it, enjoying seeing this side to her.

There were so many things I loved about this book! Of course, Gareth and Sloan. There is such a connection between these two, first with friendship. It is a friendship that has endured for years. It is a deeply romantic book, yet it is also a deeply emotional one, and who doesn’t like catching up with the Harris clan. The story of Gareth and Sloan isn’t nearly over, and I can’t wait to see how it ends!!!!

As with the previous audio books, the narrators are phenomenal. They breathe life into each character which takes the story to an even deeper, emotional level!!! Looking forward to listening to the next book!!!

The Narrators Really Bring This Romance ALIVE!!!

Revisado: 08-28-18

I absolutely LOVE second chance romances, and I fell in love with this one instantly...actually, when I read the synopsis. Charlotte and Grayson spoke to me then!!!

Charlotte and Grayson should never have crossed paths. Grayson represents everything Charlotte hates in a man...an over inflated ego and one who has a revolving group of women he has sex with. Grayson doesn’t date, so Charlotte definitely isn’t a girl Grayson would normally go for. However, destiny has other plans for these two, and Charlotte is Grayson’s new tutor who meets with him every Tuesday. Grayson is intrigued by her, and Charlotte can’t stand him. First, she tolerates him, Then, she allows him to be her friend. Finally, she falls in love with him, just like he falls in love with her. Unfortunately, something tears them apart. Really this is where the story begins….

The book is told after the breakup with flashbacks showing readers how they fell in love and how it went so wrong, which is a bit of a mystery!

I really enjoyed how the story unfolds. It isn’t insta-love, at least on Charlotte’s part. Grayson has a way of getting under her skin, and his charm is what I loved most about him. He really is a good guy. He had his fun, but he learned the hard way who he could trust and who he couldn’t. Charlotte is intelligent and beautiful, and is the perfect girl for Grayson. She definitely doesn’t let him get away with things just because of his popularity on campus.

Part of what makes audio books so great is when narrators bring the story alive. However, I’m pretty picky when it comes to narrators. I have to say both Erin Mallon and Joseph Discher did a phenomenal job of telling this couple’s story. They each had me engrossed in Charlotte and Grayson’s story from the beginning.

The combination of a great book, great characters, and great narrators made this a 5 Star listen for me.

Bro Code by Kendall Ryan is my favorite type of romance to read…the perfect combination of sweet and sexy!

Barrett has returned home for his best friend, Nick’s, father’s retirement party. He just hopes he can make it through without his hidden feelings for Nick’s sister, Ava, from surfacing. He knows Nick would kill him if he knew how he felt about Ava. He would be breaking “bro code.” Things get a little harder to control once he sees her.

Ava is shocked to see Barrett when he shows up with Nick. She has always had a crush on her Barrett. While her friends were dreaming about celebrities, she was dreaming about Barrett. She never thought he even noticed her, but one stolen kiss changes all that.

The chemistry between Ava and Nick was insane. Ryan definitely made me feel butterflies in my stomach many times! What I loved most about this couple was their deep friendship they had as well. That was evident in the memories they each shared throughout the book. Those were so incredibly sweet. It just made sense for these two to be together. They are both strong, independent, and intelligent people. Their HEA won’t be an easy one. Ava is taking over her father’s struggling plant, and Barrett is trying to make partner in his law firm. But, the biggest challenge is the secret Barrett is keeping from Ava that could change everything.

Now for the most important part of this review, the narrators. Both Ava Erickson and Jacob Morgan brought the story to life for me. I had already read the book earlier in the month, so I was quite excited to listen to it. The characters had already found a special place in my heart. I’m quite picky about my narrators, and both of them exceeded my expectations. They made Ava and Barrett even more special to me. I have had the opportunity to listen to both narrators before, and I loved them already, and I’m a huge fan of dual narrators!!!!

Bro Code was the perfect book to kick off my summer reading but I have to say the audio version is probably my favorite. If you love audio books or are a new listener, you should really download this one today. It’s perfect if you are driving in the car, working out, or doing housework. It will definitely make the time fly by.

Paul Woodson Brought Bullet to LIFE!!!

Revisado: 04-26-18

Driving Whiskey Wild was another great book by Melissa Foster! What made it even better was the narrator, Paul Woodson. He really brought the characters and the story to life!

Bullet was a fantastic character. He is everything a woman wants in a man…a bad boy with a good heart. Finlay’s description of him being an intimidating man was spot on. However, under that sexy, tough exterior is his best attribute…his heart! He doesn’t trust very easily and only gives his heart to a limited number of people, mostly his family. Finlay may change that. She is definitely not the type of girl he usually is attracted to. She is too sweet, and because of that underlying attraction, he is either rude or making crude sexual remarks about her. When he is forced to spend more time with her, he develops a fierce protectiveness and feelings he has never had for another woman.

Finlay is one of those quirky characters I can’t help but fall in love with. She is sweet and charming, but she also has a strength and determination most people aren’t expecting. Bullet is definitely not the type of guy she would ever date. His rudeness and sexual comments created a lot of complicated feelings within herself. One minute she wants to slap him across the face, and then, in the next moment, she wants to kiss him (and more). As she spends more time with him, she begins seeing a very different side of him, not the tough guy he portrays to others. These two have a sexual chemistry that is “off the charts hot.” It’s their deeper, emotional, and sweet relationship that really melted my heart.
As I wrote earlier, the narrator was AMAZING!!! I’m pretty particular about a narrator’s voice.

He or she can make or break an audio book for me. I am mostly a fan of dual narrators, one a male and one a female. But, Woodson blew me away! I’m a huge fan of Melissa Foster already, but I’m even a bigger fan now. Paul Woodson also has a new fan in me!
