Not What I Expected
Revisado: 07-20-24
This book felt more like a stand alone story vs a conclusion to what started out as the promise of an epic series. The change in narrator was disappointing as well.

Historia
Enough of the spin, the depressing headlines & the bad poll numbers. By almost every discernible metric, the Democrats are actually doing incredibly well. We talk about the signed bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, the biggest investment in our country in over 50 years; the Build Back Better Act, that could be the greatest social spending bill in decades; and, we talk in depth about the party that voted AGAINST all of that because they’ve chosen Democratic failure over American success. We question who the Republican Party has become as they’re no longer attempting to govern, but setting up...

It took me a while to finish this book. It didn't really hold my attention, so I spent alot of time rewinding. Good storyline, but not author's best work.

I Wanted to Love It
Revisado: 05-27-18
Okay plot, but character conversations were often difficult to get through. Not sure if it was the writing and/or the narrator. The acronyms and terms used to reference programs, people, and equipment were annoying as well. TEET, PIT, cohort, etc...really?! It was a struggle, however I managed to listen to the whole book. I can't see myself re-reading/listening to it again.

Historia
It was not common to awaken in a cloning vat streaked with drying blood. At least Maria Arena had never experienced it. She had no memory of how she died. That was also new; before, when she had awakened as a new clone, her first memory was of how she died. Maria's vat was in the front of six vats, each one holding the clone of a crew member of the starship Dormire, each clone waiting for its previous incarnation to die so it could awaken. And Maria wasn't the only one to die recently....

The story was pretty good, but the narration was awful. Author sounded like a librarian reading to elementary school students. I would recommend reading the book for yourself.

A New Favorite
Revisado: 11-15-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, this book was a wonderful blend of intrigue, nostalgia and humanity. It's an ageless coming of age story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Shadow of the Wind?
The revelation of how all the seemingly unconnected characters connected.
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Who was the most memorable character of The Shadow of the Wind and why?
Penelope because she represents the tragedy of betrayal and loss we all suffer at some point in our lives.
Any additional comments?
This a well written book with exquisitely crafted characters. A must read.
