Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

I loved this book
Revisado: 02-23-23
I don’t normally read fiction, but I read this one because it was a book club pic at the facility. I am living. It started out a little slow but as I got into it, it was fascinating. The story is a very creative idea and I can’t “reading“ to see what would happen next. It’s very philosophical. anyway, is someone who doesn’t normally read fiction I highly recommend this book.

It could’ve been longer it was so funny.
Revisado: 09-26-22
Sorry, but they’re too tiny spoilers in this review, i.e. i’ve revealed two songs that were rated bad.
this book is funny, which I really need. It brings back memories of my Youth as a Boomer. I knew every song even before he mentioned it. MacArthur Park I think is number one for many people. The funny thing is that it was written by Jimmy Webb Who I think is a great writer. But this a song that I love to hate. So bad it’s good . My husband and I sometimes start singing it because it’s so hilarious ….. “someone left the cake out in the rain and I’ll never have that recipe again”. I guess it’s supposed to be a metaphor but it’s hilarious.
And “you’re having my baby“ is not hilarious, it’s just a bad bad song and It makes me cringe.
This is a Great book and very funny but I just wish it had more content because I enjoyed it so much.

Historia
The Appalachian Trail trail stretches from Georgia to Maine and covers some of the most breathtaking terrain in America - majestic mountains, silent forests, sparking lakes. If you’re going to take a hike, it’s probably the place to go. And Bill Bryson is surely the most entertaing guide you’ll find. He introduces us to the history and ecology of the trail and to some of the other hardy (or just foolhardy) folks he meets along the way - and a couple of bears. Already a classic, A Walk in the Woods will make you long for the great outdoors (or at least a comfortable chair to sit and read in).

Great mix of non-fiction Hike with humor and adventure
Revisado: 09-25-22
This is the second time I’ve read this book on audible. The first time was about 22 years ago in my first book club in Oklahoma.
I am in a new book club so I immediately picked this book because I loved it so much. I love all of Bill Bryson‘s books. I hope the book club members like it as much as I do; it’s a great mixture of humor history adventure and camaraderie.

dull and affected and tedious
Revisado: 04-15-22
I'm fairly intelligent & I love words. But how he could make this subject boring and tedious is beyond me. I can't even explain how bad it is and how twisted the narrative is. It's hard to explain, just don't waste your money. Sorry, I hate to give bad reviews but this is bad

Makes learning vocabulary FUN!!
Revisado: 09-26-18
I never thought that vocabulary could be so fun! This book is so good that I don't have the time to review it properly. It's packed with knowledge and anecdotes and is not dry at all. And I am SO glad that he did not slip in his political preferences as so many authors do. (AUTHORS: we don't care what your political beliefs are [unless it's about politics] and if you try to slip them in you are just going to piss off 50% of us.)
This book is a compendium of recorded classes, each one being a chapter. I love this book so much that I have listened to it a couple of times.
The only thing is, I wish there were PDF files providing some of the information in the book. The minimum being the spelling of the words being discussed; or at least I wish the author had spelled the word at the beginning of the word's discussion. Too late now, besides that is just minutiae
Do yourself a favor, listen to this book!
You'll thank me later!

I learned a few new things…
Revisado: 01-19-18
This book is a fine book. It’s entertaining to listen to. Good Performance by the narrator. My only hesitation is that I know most of the tips already. But you understand, I read and watch a lot of life hacks on YouTube so I probably know more about than the average person.
But that being said I did learn a few new things and it did reinforce all the things that I knew that I should be doing.

Have you ever wondered how much that guy with the cardboard sign makes? One economics student did and he decided to find out. During the summer of his senior year at college, while earning a B.A. in Economics and Political Science, David P. Spears spent 80 hours undercover as a panhandler. Systematically recording every transaction at the exit ramp, Spears captured a rarely seen picture of how modern urban charity works.

Factual yet fascinating
Revisado: 07-23-14
What did you love best about Exit Ramp?
The author wrote this from the an economic and factual viewpoint since he was writing a paper yet he also kept the human touch. His compassion and humanity shone through as he wasn't just writing this as a student but as a human being. I have a different perspective of charity now. It also confirms my belief that America and Americans are the greatest and kindest nation and people in the world.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Exit Ramp?
That's what was so great about this paper. It wasn't just one moment. It was the aggregate of all the many moments that added up that made this such a great story.
What about Sean Schroeder’s performance did you like?
The best thing about the narrator was that I forgot that he was narrating. I felt like the author of the paper was narrating which is the whole point of a good narrator. It's not about him, it's about the content of what he's reading. Good job!
If you could give Exit Ramp a new subtitle, what would it be?
Exit ramp: or how I spent my summer vacation pretending to be a bum and having many of my preconceived notions about beggers and givers completely changed what for.
Any additional comments?
I was really touched by the courage it took author to do this, in spite of the fact that he admitted he was not a shy person.
It was interesting to hear about the growth that he made as he experienced the time he spent doing this,

Understandable content, great narration, Choose this Audio thank me later
Revisado: 02-28-14
Would you listen to The FastDiet again? Why?
Actually, yes. Which is strange because this is a nonfiction diet book. But it was very interesting and enjoyable. I could probably pick up a few facts and tips that I missed the first time around.
What about Michael Mosley and Mimi Spencer ’s performance did you like?
I was amazed at how good the narrators were considering that they were the Actual authors of this non-fiction book. Especially Mimi Spencer. She could start a new career as a narrator if she Wished. And Michael Mosley read clearly and slowly enough to understand him.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Diet books don't usually make me laugh or cry, getting on the scale does though. (Cry)
Any additional comments?
I have read many books on intermittent fasting and this was one of the better ones because it did not go into too much detail with the science of it. It gave you just enough science to understand. Another helpful thing was it gave you a lot of tips on how to approach doing this Fasting protocol. It also had emails and twitters which were real testimonials of people who tried the fast diet and had had success with it. I enjoyed this, it was very pleasant to listen to, I just started the fast today and I highly recommend the audiobook. I wish you good luck on the fast and please wish me good luck. Holly
