Truly wonderful story

I've always been a "fan" and was a little apprehensive at David Baldacci venturing into a different area of storytelling. Should I take that ride with him? I am so glad I did. His way with words painted a picture that did not need me to close my eyes (lucky, I was listening to an audiobook in the car). The characters captured my interest and I hope he chooses to fill in the stories of the family members between then and now. I live a long way from the setting of this story but I could have lived in the next valley I was so caught up in the ebb and flow of the families sadness and joy. Thank you David. Please explore this family further.

what a let down

So un-James Patterson.

I forced myself to listen to the long-winded dribble and by chapter 88 when I picked up the phrase "now slow is slowly" I could not have agreed more. We finally got a bit of motion by chapter 100 or so and when the nail-biting (yeah sure) problem is solved in chapter 112 I sigh with relief that it is close to finishing. Incredible characters

Don't waste your time on this very boring tale. It could be set up and solved in 6 chapters and still not have lost any of the story.

What did you love best about Woman of God?

The story was compelling, probably because I had been to these places and the incidents were not exaggerated. Some of the romantic moments were a little "so so", I mean a woman so much of the world getting gooey about a kiss?

What was one of the most memorable moments of Woman of God?

The reunion back in Africa... I had tears in my eyes listening to the meeting unfolding. Again, bringing back too many buried memories of my earlier years.

How could the performance have been better?

The performance was a little frantic at times. Understand trying to dramatise, but the story speaks for itself and perhaps if she had read the book before she may have had a better idea of the big picture and put less panic in some places.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

don't want to spoil it for future listeners. Lots of emotion running through the story

Any additional comments?

Has left the door open for sequels. Many interesting characters with more stories to expand on.

What did you love best about The Sum of All Fears?

I love the way Clancy always acknowledges his readers are intelligent enough to manage several "back" stories. He doesn't have to step you through the characters, they are so well written you don't need reminders or prompts. The Sum of All Fears is just such a story.. Clever, well proportioned and credible characters.

What other book might you compare The Sum of All Fears to and why?

Matthew Reilly gives the reader the same impression of deep research. and having done same wants to share every morsel with the reader. I feel I'm not just being entertained I am learning... Very satisfying experience

What does John MacDonald bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Nice to hear someone who can read without taking breathes and gasps midsentence (like Lou Diamond Philips) this destroys the story. I have sought out and listened to more McDonald and he is good.. Wish he could re-read all the ones Phillips has mutilated..

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Ryan saves the world (again) .....

the series started declining following the private book set in Australia. So inaccurate, could not imagine the city let alone the characters... Don't insult your fans any further. Knock the series on the head and cut your losses.
