Historia
The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms. A few score thousand survivors live on, not knowing whether they are the only ones left on Earth....

Middle School philosophy.
Revisado: 05-04-18
This is an attempt at sci-fi for the highbrow literary set. If you're into literature but not a big fan of sci-fi, this is for you. If you have a teenager who's just beginning to ponder the Deep questions of life, this is a good philosophy primmer. Otherwise it's not really all that great.

"Unvarnished. Funny. Leaving no stone unturned"...So say the publishers about this audiobook I've written. What I say is that this is the story of my life, told as clear as a Texas sky and in the same rhythm that I lived it. It's a story of restlessness and the purity of the moment and living right. Of my childhood in Abbott, Texas, to the Pacific Northwest, from Nashville to Hawaii, and all the way back again. Of selling vacuum cleaners and encyclopedias while hosting radio shows and writing song after song, hoping to strike gold.

a brief history of outlaw country music
Revisado: 05-10-16
willie nelson is an interesting figure to say the least. whether or not you like his music, his life story is still fascinating. not every life is worth the attention devoted to it in the media, but this man's life is worth every bit of the attention it gets and more. here we have a fairly chronological collection of anecdotes an highlights that give us a pretty accurate picture of his life as well as the history of chart topping country music over the last 50+ years. christopher ryan grant does an excellent job reading this book. steady pacing and rhythm while capturing the emotion of the moment when the story calls for it. his reading really made it feel like a younger willie was telling the story.

Historia
The world of man was brought to its knees with the zombie apocalypse. A hundred and fifty years have passed since man clawed and climbed his way back from the brink of extinction. Civilization has rebooted, man has begun to rebuild, creating new communities and society. It is on this fragile new shaky ground that a threat worse than the scourge of the dead has sprung... Once again, one man finds himself once thrust into the forefront of a war he wants nothing to do with and seemingly cannot win.

political diatribe
Revisado: 05-10-16
it's rare that I quit a book rather than finish it, but this was just too stupid. the beginning is interesting. the setting and premise for the story are also interesting. but the main character is not only a complete moron, but also a platform for the author to preach about how humans are destroying nature. one or the other I can withstand in small doses, but when the whole plot revolves around the protagonist doing the dumbest thing he can in order to rant about man made evils, I bail. I get it, it's a post apocalypse setting, make the point and move the story along. using a really dumb character to beat me over the head with "tech is unnatural and evil" rantings just wastes my time and money. sean runnette is a good narrator, but this is not his finest performance. not much difference between characters though still well read.

Historia
‘It was a sweet finish after the bitter pills of floggings and bullets with which these same governments, just at that time, dosed the German working-class risings’. The Communist Manifesto is, perhaps surprisingly, a most engaging and accessible work, containing even the odd shaft of humour in this translation by Samuel Moore for the 1888 English edition.

soft headed drivel
Revisado: 05-10-16
the only redeeming factor here is the narrator does a good job. there is no towering intellectual thought here. in short, marx states that capitalism does the most good for the most people. somehow, that is why capitalism is evil. he proposes that if you just give up all notions of self interest and submit your will to the designs of some nebulous central planner, you would be happier. it boggles my mind that so many people have gotten anything of substance out of this book. by all means, listen to it; but first be sure to get an accurate understanding of what life was really like before the industrial revolution and the invention of the middle class.

Historia
Simon Majumdar is probably not your typical idea of an immigrant. As he says, "I'm well rested, not particularly poor, and the only time I ever encounter 'huddled masses' is in line at Costco." But immigrate he did, and thanks to a Homeland Security agent who asked if he planned to make it official, the journey chronicled in Fed, White, and Blue was born. In it, Simon sets off on a trek across the United States to find out what it really means to become an American, using what he knows best: food.

If you're an Indo-Muslim-British-American actor who has spent more time in bars than mosques over the past few decades, turns out it's a little tough to explain who you are or where you are from. In No Land's Man Aasif Mandvi explores this and other conundrums through stories about his family, ambition, desire, and culture that range from dealing with his brunch-obsessed father, to being a high-school-age Michael Jackson impersonator, to joining a Bible study group in order to seduce a nice Christian girl, to improbably becoming America's favorite Muslim/Indian/Arab/Brown/Doctor correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

fun and imaginative
Revisado: 10-17-13
a fun and well paced book. a little predictable in spots (the reason for 4 out of 5 stars for story), but excellently written with some nicely hidden twists (good enough to bump the story up from 3 to 4 stars). it's a post-apocalyptic, superhero, action, fantasy story. it sounds kinda silly when it's described like that, but it delivers on all 4 fronts well. the narrator really shines here. he delivers a riveting dramatization while also differentiating all of the characters and slinging the slang in the dialog with believable flair. well worth the credit to purchase and the time to enjoy :D

Historia
In this delightful, acclaimed bestseller, one of the world’s leading cognitive scientists tackles the workings of the human mind. What makes us rational—and why are we so often irrational? How do we see in three dimensions? What makes us happy, afraid, angry, disgusted, or sexually aroused? Why do we fall in love? And how do we grapple with the imponderables of morality, religion, and consciousness?

slightly misleading title
Revisado: 10-07-12
a better title for this book would havve been, "What the brain does." if you don't think my suggested title is any different from the actual one, this would be a good book for you. if you think that my title and the actual one are indeed different, then you probably already know all the info in this book.
this is a good book, but it's aimed more at people just begining to explore what's happening inside a persons skull. it's well presented, though a bit long on examples. my only real gripe is that the author tends to make the same point several times before moving on to the next one. but then so did all my teachers in high school. i listened to this book on my android at x1.5 speed which made it much better to listen to. at regular speed the narration is a might slow, but maybe that's just me. well read, just needed to pick up the pace a bit.

amazing memoir
Revisado: 09-16-12
this book is totally non-political. nor does it give away any details that could jeapordize other elite special forces individuals. rather it is just as it claims to be, a first hand account of the raid that got osamma, plus a little more. the details given in this book are either personal to the author, giving some background on this individual and where he came from; or are just a fleshing out of some of the more famous and well known ops since 9/11. if you are at all intrested in the subject, or are just a fan of military history, this book is definatly worth your credits.
