Historia
I have a lot of names these days—including my own, real name. Unfortunately for me, someone else knows that name too; not to mention the names of my other heirling friends. Now those heirling friends have disappeared, stolen by the current King Behind for a fight to the death where only one contender to the throne remains.

The Rnge of Plot and Characters
Revisado: 11-29-24
Although I am writing about this last book, this review really applies to the whole series. The author applied great imagination to the plot and the characters. Book to book she further developed the plot and fleshed out the characters. I loved her writing, which was well-organized and pithy. And the narrator was perfect for this series.

The Story Concept
Revisado: 11-24-23
As a fan of James Patterson I loved the overall story. And enjoyed Hillary Swank's character. Unfortunately, because I am a retired military attorney with 150+ court-martials to my credit, I noticed several procedural and rank seniority errors. But, overall, an excellent read!

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Absolutely stunning, with superb narration. It began a little slowly, but accelerated like a rocket. My favorite moment was entering the unexplored realm!

Historia
The Supernatural Summit is about to start at the DeVane Hotel in London. Vampires and werewolves, ghouls and gremlins, and pixies and druids have all come together to find better ways to get along with the human community and address the strict laws that govern their existence. It's a real opportunity to change the world for the better, and I'm proud to be a part of it. But there are protestors camped outside the hotel and dangerous rumors circling about one of the delegates. When a dead body is discovered, I know it's only a matter of time before all hell breaks loose.

Great Series
Revisado: 07-30-22
I haven't read Helen Harper before, so I began the first book with trepidation. By book two I was hooked, and by book four knew I had found a new staple for imaginative and well written books. She is superb!

Historia
Starting a war with an enemy 100 times stronger is insane. It’s desperate. And it’s Earth’s only hope. A massive alien power looms over humanity, claiming Earth as its territory and humanity as its slaves. The Hegemony has already taken over one colony, yoking hundreds of thousands under their brutal rule. Every tactical exercise, every war game, and every simulation gives humanity zero chance in a defensive campaign.

Superb Stand Alone Read
Revisado: 01-11-21
Chris Nuttall is an exceptionally gifted military science fiction writer. This book is similar to a number of other of his books I have read. Action packed, with a believable storyline. And being retired military myself, I appreciate that he presents military terminology and rank structure correctly. Strongly commend this book to every military sci fi reader!

Historia
In what is considered one of Heinlein's most hair-raising, thought-provoking, and outrageous adventures, the master of modern science fiction tells the strange story of an even stranger world. It is 21st-century Luna, a harsh penal colony where a revolt is plotted between a bashful computer and a ragtag collection of maverick humans, a revolt that goes beautifully until the inevitable happens. But that's the problem with the inevitable: it always happens.

Heinlein at his Best
Revisado: 08-18-19
Although Robert A. Heinlein is a master science fiction writer, in this title he also shows his abilities as a historian, political and military scientist, pragmatist, and futurist. He accurately writes of the issues humankind will face as we explore and populate our solar system, and reach for the stars. He discusses the crafting of criminal and civil laws and human morality predicated on the environmental factors humankind will encounter, not the laws and mores from whence we came. For example, as he postulates, how well do monogamous marriages work in an environmental setting with an average of 1 woman for every 200 men, and little likelihood of that ratio changing for generations? Or, what basic rights does an individual have when the very oxygen one breathes, the water one drinks, or the calories one consumes come from another’s labor, as postulated by John Gault in Ayn Rand’s tour de force, “Atlas Shrugged”? Heinlein is so much more than a science fiction writer. I sincerely hope his genius is realized when humankind is working through exactly the issues predicated by Heinlein. Superb book.

Historia
The Last Stand of Fox Company is a fast-paced and gripping account of heroism and self-sacrifice in the face of impossible odds. The authors have conducted dozens of firsthand interviews with the battle's survivors, and they narrate the story with the immediacy of such classic accounts of single battles as Guadalcanal Diary, Pork Chop Hill, and Black Hawk Down.

Superb Historical Accuracy
Revisado: 06-28-19
As a Marine in Vietnam I was honored to serve in Fox Company, 2/7; the same unit this book is about. We had big boots to fill, and we did our very best. I later met three individuals who served in Fox during the battle described. All three were highly decorated, all three didn’t think they deserved awards for bravery, and none could talk about the battle more than 30 years previously.
The book was well researched, well written, and well narrated. Listening to it was riveting. I commend it to you.

The Invisible Library Series
Revisado: 06-10-19
I have just finished the third book in the series, and have thoroughly enjoyed all three. The first I read, and the other two were audiobooks. They had several well interwoven plots. I particularly liked that a number of books in our own reality were referenced. This is is also a series that could be read by teens as well as adults, with both getting different takeaways. The dictation was superb.
Sincerely, a reader of 60+ years, B.S., M.S., J.D.
