Historia
In this disturbing exposé, journalist Paul L. Williams describes a secret alliance forged at the close of World War II by the CIA, the Sicilian and US mafias, and the Vatican to thwart the possibility of a Communist invasion of Europe. Williams presents evidence suggesting the existence, in many European countries, of "stay-behind" units consisting of 5,000 to 15,000 military operatives.

I find the presentation very entertaining, close to the original novel in many respects. There was no additional music as a distraction. Well narrated for continuity.

Historia
Dunbar-Ortiz adroitly challenges the founding myth of the United States and shows how policy against the Indigenous peoples was colonialist and designed to seize the territories of the original inhabitants, displacing or eliminating them. And as Dunbar-Ortiz reveals, this policy was praised in popular culture, through writers like James Fenimore Cooper and Walt Whitman, and in the highest offices of government and the military.

What everyone needs to know about how our country
Revisado: 08-06-18
The story of North America and the Western hemisphere and how it was refashioned for the invaders also means. We learn in school that as Americans we had a right to occupy this wilderness and make it our own. There has always been a different version of those lessons. With the revelations of Roxanne's research and interpretation we are given a greater understanding of what happened and how wrong we treated the Nations of America and their offspring.
I believe that everybody should read or listen to this book.

Historia
It was a split-second operation as delicate and as deadly as a time bomb. It demanded the concentrated devotion and vigilance of more than six hundred men for every hour, every day, and every night for more than a year. With only their bare hands and crude homemade tools, they sank shafts, built underground railroads, forged passports, drew maps, faked weapons, and tailored German clothes.

A Great Escape for me and a great listen excellent
Revisado: 09-15-16
Would you consider the audio edition of The Great Escape to be better than the print version?
I have not read this book, after seeing the movie version, the Paul Brickhill story was far more vivid and inspiring. The men's struggle to just exist daily was incredible.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed to imagination of the prisoners, to create the cloths, documents and engineer the tunnels; rivals other accomplishments of the time. Outstanding!

The youngest-ever underboss at the age of 31, Leonetti was at the crux of the violent downfall of the traditional American Mafia in the 1980s when he infiltrated Atlantic City after gambling was legalized, and later turned state’s evidence against his own.

Historia
Dashiell Hammett’s The Maltese Falcon, first serialized in a magazine in 1930, is best known through the iconic Humphrey Bogart film of 1941. But it was the book that created the classic "noir" genre with its tough private detective threading his cool way between the criminals and the law. Sam Spade, the private eye solving the mystery of the Maltese statuette, was the template for Philip Marlowe and a host of others…. but they come no more shrewd and cunning with Hammett peppering the text with one-liners.

Satan met the Lady
Revisado: 01-26-16
What made the experience of listening to The Maltese Falcon the most enjoyable?
I have enjoyed Humphrey Bogart as Sam Spade in Maltese Falcon "lite" and found the full story even more. Sam in this original version is just so much better. Much more action and story depth. More color more fun.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Sam Spade is the ultimate detective. He is aware of the street people who are his stock and trade.
What does Eric Meyers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I didn't get as much from Eric Meyers performance as I did from other readers. I did enjoy his work. it just seemed a little less somehow.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
While Sam is dealing with his partners death and the interaction with the grieving widow. Their triangle was very well told.
Any additional comments?
I am going to listen to this one again.

The Saint an original Super Hero
Revisado: 01-26-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Enter the Saint to be better than the print version?
I enjoy the theater of the mind offered by the narration
Who was your favorite character and why?
Of course the Saint is a favorite I also liked Conway as one of his backup men always around to help out.
What about John Telfer’s performance did you like?
I think John was bringing the story to life through his use of accents and emotion of each role, Bringing to each person in the story individualism and nuance.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Well it is not easy to have that much time so not in a single sitting. I listen while working when I am able to. I helps the tasks to flow for me.
