Historia
Dillard Johnson was at the forefront of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. But surviving the enemy was only the beginning. Johnson would use the intensity, focus, and humor that kept him alive on the battlefield to fight stage three Hodgkin's Lymphoma. A man determined not to die, Johnson made a miraculous recovery - and then returned to Iraq for a second combat tour as an Army sniper. Funny and exciting, Carnivore offers fresh insight into the mind and heart of a warrior and offers a look at the lives of troops on the ground not seen before.

Good book the wife and thermos story is what most of us thought about this war. We didn’t have a clue what was actually happening there.

Historia
Thousands of years ago, Earth's terraforming program took to the stars. On the world they called Nod, scientists discovered alien life - but it was their mission to overwrite it with the memory of Earth. Then humanity's great empire fell, and the program's decisions were lost to time. Aeons later, humanity and its new spider allies detected fragmentary radio signals between the stars. They dispatched an exploration vessel, hoping to find cousins from old Earth. But those ancient terraformers woke something on Nod better left undisturbed. And it's been waiting for them.

Dreadful
Revisado: 02-09-23
I just could not follow the story. It jumped around so much I was just lost. I would back up to reread & try to see where I went wrong. I just cannot connect with this style of writing. One of my pet peeves is when writers use “save for” as a crutch, and there were many instances. I know that is petty but I just finished the book, and I’m not entirely sure what happened.
I know that a man grew octopus and they grew to many on a planet that had strange creatures. These creatures infected a human but didn’t infect the octos?? The spiders from the first book are in there somewhere, but I’m unclear on most of what took place between them. Well I wish I had read the reviews first and not wasted my money.

Huh not quite what I expected
Revisado: 12-17-22
Well, the way the story was told was different. I believe my mind inadequate to properly follow. As the story jumped back and forth it was a few paragraphs before I realized who’s perspective I was now hearing. So I would start the chapter over, more of a bother than anything else. My personal pet peeve, the use of “save for” was the most annoying used too many times for my liking. But thats just me.

The longest book I’ve ever tried to read
Revisado: 12-14-22
I just couldn’t relate to the characters, reading War & Peace was less painful. I didn’t have so much a problem with the narration, as other readers. For me the story just didn’t flow, many times I became lost. Going back to reread a chapter only to get back to the same place still lost. With 9 hours left to go in the story I threw in the towel. Maybe it all comes together in the end. Maybe it was too far outside my genre.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

wow, it's been a long time since I've been thisi disappointed in a story. i could not relate to any character. When it came time to end all it took was a few paragraphs. You could have put those paragraphs anywhere in the story and get the same results.
