Historia
In 1922, Count Alexander Rostov is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, and is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel’s doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery.

Fascinating!

It was a slow build for me, but he built such an amazing world inside the Metropol hotel, and the characters were very likable. After reading it, I want to start over immediately!

Historia
Can’t Hurt Me, David Goggins’ smash hit memoir, demonstrated how much untapped ability we all have but was merely an introduction to the power of the mind. In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.

Great old western stories
Revisado: 12-27-21
The stories were hit or miss. Most of them I found totally engrossing. I’m impressed by the authors ability to wrap a reader in a full story arc in such a short amount of time.

Fabulous
Revisado: 09-14-21
I got this book because I wanted to hear more Stephen Fry narrations and I remember liking Winnie the Pooh as a kid.
What I did not anticipate was how silly and funny the stories were. The cast was fabulous and they added in bits of Music that really boosted the overall performance. Highly recommend listening to this for any age!

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Revisado: 11-05-20
I’ve heard about this book for years and finally glad I took the plunge to listen to it. It’s a wonderful story with characters you grow to love. One thing I didn’t know before going in is this is going to be a 10 part series!
Overall the narration was wonderful but a couple of chapters towards the end Kate mid pronounced one of the key characters name 20+ times. It makes no sense why they didn’t catch this mistake.

Oh, Florida! To some people it's a paradise. To others it's a punch line. As Oh, Florida! shows, it's both of these, and, more important, it's a Petri dish, producing trends that end up influencing the rest of the country. Without Florida there would be no NASCAR, no Bettie Page pinups, no Glenn Beck radio rants, no USA Today, no "Stand Your Ground" - you get the idea.

Historia
Every day, we make decisions on topics ranging from personal investments to schools for our children to the meals we eat to the causes we champion. Unfortunately, we often choose poorly. The reason, the authors explain, is that, being human, we are all susceptible to various biases that can lead us to blunder. Our mistakes make us poorer and less healthy; we often make bad decisions involving education, personal finance, health care, mortgages and credit cards, the family, and even the planet itself.

A good intro into behavioral economics. However think fast and slow is harder to read but the ultimate book on this topic. And easy to read behavioral economics books I have more updated examples. I had already heard of over half the examples because I’ve read other related books

As Tom Standage relates with authority and charm, six of them have had a surprisingly pervasive influence on the course of history, becoming the defining drink during a pivotal historical period. A History of the World in 6 Glasses tells the story of humanity from the Stone Age to the 21st century through the lens of beer, wine, spirits, coffee, tea, and cola.

Historia
Robert Caro's monumental book makes public what few outsiders knew: that Robert Moses was the single most powerful man of his time in the City and in the State of New York. And in telling the Moses story, Caro both opens up to an unprecedented degree the way in which politics really happens—the way things really get done in America's City Halls and Statehouses—and brings to light a bonanza of vital information about such national figures as Alfred E. Smith and Franklin D. Roosevelt (and the genesis of their blood feud), about Fiorello La Guardia, John V. Lindsay and Nelson Rockefeller.

Revisado: 12-05-19
Worth it if you are interested in NYC history, power in politics or urban planning. If you are not interested in two of the above 3 this book will drone on too long for you.
Many times throughout the book I marveled at Robert Caro’s thoroughness and research.

Why is Red Bull so popular, though everyone—everyone!—hates the taste? Humans are, in a word, irrational, basing decisions as much on subtle external signals (that little blue can) as on objective qualities (flavor, price, quality). The surrounding world, meanwhile, is irreducibly complex and random. This means future success can’t be projected on any accounting spreadsheet. To strike gold, you must master the dark art and curious science of conjuring irresistible ideas: alchemy.
