Historia
Van and his crew have killed an empire. The problem is the empire doesn’t know it’s dead. Moving among the stars, the Peacemakers are faced with their greatest challenge—removing an evil so vast, it has a presence in every known star system. To that end, they’ll need to move quickly. To do so, they must be mobile, and that means big changes in their tactics. . . and their crew. With the help of a shadowy figure known as the Body Thief, Van will continue his policy of justice and freedom for all citizens, even if they began life on a computer chip.

The tale becomes taller, but the characters in this installment are still relevant and totally worthy of my eyeballs.

Historia
When Van gains rank as a Peacemaker, he becomes a bigger target for the criminals scattered among the stars. And he wouldn’t have it any other way. On a distant world under an alien sun, hunters and their companions—the Rovan—bond in a ritual as old as their civilization. But one of the hunters is missing, and Van, along with his growing crew, knows where to look. Climbing up into the rarified air of the super-rich, Van uncovers a new enemy: The Fade. And they are as cruel as the stars are many.

Historia
When Halek Cain and his allies search for a new home, the exodus fleet faces their ancient enemies right when a captured scientist unleashes deadly experiments. Alon scout ships are drawing the exodus fleet into a trap. Two disparate civilizations must work together to move a massive, broken-down fleet into a new system while dealing with external threats and an internal crisis. Doctor Ayers has attempted to revive an alien race through DNA splicing, but instead of resurrecting the past, he’s created unstoppable creatures of extraordinary power.

Historia
Six months ago, Connor learned what the alien race that populated New Earth feared - a mysterious enemy who nearly brought about the collapse of an entire civilization. To help the colony prepare for this new threat, Connor rejoins the Colonial Defense Force. Using alien technology, Connor opens a gateway to another universe hoping to learn more about the threat. Instead, he receives a colonial distress beacon. Six months ago, they’d left people behind on a mission, all presumed dead. The beacon might be them, or it might be a trap, but Connor will not ignore the call for help.

Impressed with the voices that one actor can bring to so many characters
Revisado: 07-14-22
The story is solid and this installment really picked up the pace. The author is not afraid to do the meticulous work required to flesh out bit the world and the processes of motivating and moving his characters through that world. Looking forward to the next installment! I find myself wondering how the actor and the author communicate to deliver a performance of this complexity and quality!

Historia
The war raged across the galaxy. Billions had died, billions more were doomed. Moons, planets, the very stars themselves, faced destruction, cold-blooded, brutal, and worse, random. The Idirans fought for their Faith; the Culture for its moral right to exist. Principles were at stake. There could be no surrender. Within the cosmic conflict, an individual crusade. Deep within a fabled labyrinth on a barren world, a Planet of the Dead proscribed to mortals, lay a fugitive Mind. Both the Culture and the Idirans sought it....

a terrific imagining of a post-human civilization. With mortality up for.grabs its interesting that the author still envisions motivation to war on other species.

Historia
The arrival of vast, alien, inhuman intelligences reshaped the landscape for human affairs across the world, and the United Kingdom is no exception. Things have changed in Britain since the dread elder god Nyarlathotep ascended to the rank of prime minister. In America, a thousand-mile-wide storm system has blanketed the Midwest, and the president is nowhere to be found. The government has been infiltrated by the shadowy Black Chamber, and the Pentagon and NASA have been refocused on the problem of summoning Cthulhu.

I loved this yarn!
Stross' seemingly effortless crafting of both expert-level technical presentation and guitar-string-tight grammar combined with a storyline that should be baffling in mortal hands makes for a tale worthy of inclusion as an example of the best literary fiction this century will have to offer.

Humans expanded into space...only to find a universe populated with multiple alien species bent on their destruction. Thus was the Colonial Union formed, to help protect us from a hostile universe. The Colonial Union used the Earth and its excess population for colonists and soldiers. It was a good arrangement...for the Colonial Union. Then the Earth said: no more.

A Fiercely Imagined Master Work of the Genre
Revisado: 03-21-17
Scalzi's best work since Red Shirts and comparable and competitive in imagining to anything in the same genre by Corey and Stross. The characters and limitations were well-scoped, the conflicts and motivations were plausibly supportive of the narrative thread. A very satisfying read! The narration by Audible was good too!

Wonderfully imagined story
Revisado: 01-20-17
An impressively imagined space opera! Despite the liberties taken with the vast distances involved (trips between inner and outer fringe planets take minutes for narrative purposes) this intricate drama unfolds at a pace that matches that of their conveyance, which makes for a highly entertaining tale. The prose seemed a little wooden in places (banter between the main characters read a lot like a John Wayne movie) and some of the sex scenes between characters seemed like missed opportunities (although that could be me trying to get over the fact that a dude was narrating them); but the the motivation of the characters plausibly drove the drama into unexpected territory which is everything a reader hopes for. I finished looking forward to the next book.
