Udo is chosen to be named count. The title comes with the wealth and privilege he's always wanted, but he has a nagging feeling it will be more trouble than it's worth. Things become complicated as Hanman, counselor to Ditmar the King, coerces Udo into informing against Gerold of the Four Fires, Ditmar's chief general in the war with Walhaz. Udo resolves to play this part to the best of his ability but is soon horrified when that same general convinces Udo into informing against Hanman.

another badass book by the man himself. dont let the narrator change fool you into not getting this book. yes bray is good, but honestly Kramer nailed the narration on this book and I feel he was a great fit for the book, especially for Udo's character. Started out a little slow but sucked me in till the end. I listen to ALOT of books weekly and this one is getting replayed for sure. kicking ass and taking names Joshua! thanks for another great book.

A great addition to the nine realms saga! The character and world development is superb throughout this series and this book blends well with the other books. Really ties alot of loose ends up in this story and leaves you wanting more. Andrew Pond is an awesome narrator as well. Great Job Ken, looking forward to the next book!

Let me begin with OMG. I listen to a hundred books a year. Yeah, I have a problem. lol. I got this book as a gift a few days ago and I almost never give written book reviews, especially after the first listen. I feel like a damn yelper when I do write one, because lets be honest, who cares what I think. So i finished my current listen, then began this book a couple days ago. Damn is it good! Hooked me in the first 5 mins and kept my full attention throughout the story. Great story with perfect narration. I am more into scifi, then fantasy but I think this book is extremely well written and has me wanting to listen to more of this genre. Im really glad I got the opportunity to enjoy such a great book. Ken paints a great picture in your minds eye and the narration ties it all together so well. Bravo! I will definitely seek out more books by this author now.
