Historia
It is the late summer of 1814, and Hannah Bonner and her half brother Luke have spent more than a year searching the islands of the Caribbean for Luke's wife and the man who abducted her. But Jennet's rescue, so long in coming, is not the resolution they'd hoped for. In the spring she had given birth to Luke's son, and in the summer Jennet had found herself compelled to surrender the infant to a stranger in the hope of keeping him safe.

Hannah
Revisado: 02-17-23
I have mixed feelings about this book. Too many details added as filler but also many details that were needed and moved the story and characters along. The pacing was off maybe? My biggest problem was in the torture this author indulged in when it comes to Hannah. Enough. I hope Hannah is happy and left alone for the final story. Also grew quite tired of Jennet. One more thing: Andrew Jackson was a horrendous man. Write him as such.

Old Fashioned
Revisado: 02-17-21
I thought this was a period piece until it became clear the story took place in the 21st century. Maggie never stood up for herself and seemed to want saving from Fell rather than taking good care of herself. And Fell was not kind to her at all. I don’t get understand what she saw in him. He was quite wimpy as well. Yuck. It was free so there’s that.

Historia
Some lines should never be crossed. Police corruption, an investigation that ends in tragedy and the mystery of a little girl’s silence – three unconnected events that will prove to be linked by one small town. While detective Cormac Reilly faces enemies at work and trouble in his personal life, garda Peter Fisher is relocated out of Galway with the threat of prosecution hanging over his head. But even that is not as terrible as having to work for his overbearing father, the local copper for the pretty seaside town of Roundstone.

Great story and excellent narration. The narrator does call Cormac “Conner” a couple of times but that’s ok.
Less foul languages this time around and thankfully a lot less Emma. Can’t wait for the next book.

Good, Solid Mystery
Revisado: 09-05-20
Fantastic narration for this story. The first may have been a tad better but I’ll continue this series. Emma was a bit whiny for my tastes. Hopefully she toughens up or is featured less in the next one. Carrie O’Halleran is my favorite.
One thing that makes me cringe is the language. Every other word is “Christ, Jesus, or f*uck.” It’s overkill in my opinion.

Historia
The story opens with the apparently accidental drowning of a sixth form student in the Norfolk countryside. As a matter of routine, or so it seems, the case passes across the desk of Detective Sergeant Smith, recently returned to work after an internal investigation into another case that has led to tensions between officers at Kings Lake police headquarters. As an ex-DCI, Smith could have retired by now, and it is clear that some of his superiors wish that he would do so.

Colored Woman?
Revisado: 04-02-20
It’s the 2000s and the author is describing a woman as “colored.” Really? Is this a British thing? It’s offensive and not even very descriptive.
Also this book was a bit boring. The story didn’t grab me. The narrator did not distinguish well between voices.
DC was a nice enough character. Reminded me a bit of Louise Penny’s Gamache character. But overall the book was not interesting enough to continue on in the series. Audible reviews are overinflated on this one.
