Historia
"In the summer of 1991 I was a normal kid. I did normal things. I had friends and a mother who loved me. I was just like you. Until the day my life was stolen. For eighteen years I was a prisoner. I was an object for someone to use and abuse. For eighteen years I was not allowed to speak my own name. I became a mother and was forced to be a sister. For eighteen years I survived an impossible situation. On August 26, 2009, I took my name back. My name is Jaycee Lee Dugard. I dont think of myself as a victim. I survived...."

should have hired a professional to read this
Revisado: 11-06-22
I knew the story, follow the story, and perhaps my expectations were too high but the book left me with a lot of questions. Also I struggled to finish this book. Her somewhat monotone voice was not engaging for me definitely if you like true crime this is a good story but there are far better done tales out there.

This Book Put Me into an Audio Coma
Revisado: 06-30-12
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
This is like listening to some old geezer at a bar who's finally crossed the line into "one too many" and it's totally boring.
What could Dean Russell have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Had the thought to write this book. Killed that thought and written a totally other book.
Would you be willing to try another one of Chase Walker’s performances?
No.

Most Uncomfortable Book I Have Ever Listened To
Revisado: 06-23-12
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
The narrator was fantastic - kudos for even reading this. It was far more graphic I anticipated and the serial killers talking about their crimes one on one was way more detail than I ever wanted.
What was most disappointing about Pete Earley’s story?
It's far more graphic than it needs to be.
What does Alan Sklar bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Alan's voice is really great to listen to.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I was pretty grossed out at the level of detail given to the blow by blow murders.

Historia
Richard Dawkins, the world’s most famous evolutionary biologist, presents a gorgeously lucid, science book examining some of the nature’s most fundamental questions both from a mythical and scientific perspective. Science is our most precise and powerful tool for making sense of the world. Before we developed the scientific method, we created rich mythologies to explain the unknown. The pressing questions that primitive men and women asked are the same ones we ask as children. Who was the first person? What is the sun? Why is there night and day?

Outstanding

Where does The Magic of Reality rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Dawkins took a pretty dry subject and made it very enjoyable. Asked some compelling questions and took me though some very mind expanding thought experiments. :)

Historia
Investigative journalist Scott Carney has spent five years on the ground tracing the lucrative and deeply secretive trade in human bodies and body parts - a vast hidden economy known as the "red market".By turns tragic, voyeuristic, and thought-provoking, The Red Market is an eye-opening, surreal look at a little-known global industry and its implications for all our lives.

Intriguing Listen!
Revisado: 06-22-12
Would you listen to The Red Market again? Why?
I actually wind up listening to "The Red Market" more than once. I've recommended it to some of my not-so-squeamish friends and they liked it too.
If you’ve listened to books by Scott Carney before, how does this one compare?
first time listener
Have you listened to any of Peter Ganim’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
My first listen to Peter Ganim but he's a good narrator.
Any additional comments?
This is a mind blowing book that human body bits are even traded on the red market - it's a real eye opener.
