Sometimes she completely misses the mark
Revisado: 04-11-23
I wish there were less current political opinion and deeper analysis of Stoicism.
Sometimes she hits the mark when it comes to understanding certain Stoic practices but other times she completely misses.
Can we stop expecting people that lived in a different time and reality from us to have same values?

Historia
In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people'" (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.

Very opinionated with lack of evidence
Revisado: 07-26-20
I didn't have much problem with the narrator as I saw in some reviews.
She started the book by putting all people that fall under the white umbrella into one box full of racists. If you are born white, you are racist, there is nothing you can do to get rid of it and you should live a life of shame (That's the main message of this book).
The author is very opinionated and supplies you with very little to non-evidence of her point of view. Contradictory throughout the book(ex: She talks about the white-race but later at the end she goes 360° and say that white-race doesn't exist.)and it gives me the impression that she rushed this book and couldn't properly define her stance properly. She seems to lacks knowledge in psychology, human history, and western philosophy. There isn't much human understanding overall in my perspective and some of her accusations lead me to think that she is trying to use white people as a scapegoat.
I have a slight impression that she is a Marxist, I base this opinion on what she sees as the problematic aspect of white culture (individuality, meritocracy, objectivity and etc) but I could be wrong. She sounds to me like she was overcompensating, because of her approach to deal with her own "racist habits" and made me realize that she is projecting that to all white people.
I recommend this as an example of a book that shouldn't be taken seriously.
p.s: I don't usually like to write reviews for books because it's time-consuming to give a proper review (and I don't think I do it very well) but I thought this book # of stars was misleading and the good reviews are not really true in so many ways but at the same time, I try to write a short review for a quick read.
