I enjoyed 22:22;22 and found it hard to put down. Story and narration all very good. Better than average adaptation of the story of the ordinary man who somehow becomes "enhanced" and how he will use his new powers. I liked the back and forth chapters between him and the creator of the program. The range of his new powers were somewhat unique. I loved the cipher references.
My only concern and I see that this was noted in other reviews was that the ending and epilogue were a little weak and seemed rushed, whereas the rest of the book was excellent. That was a little disappointing and that last part of the plot was somewhat less believable even for a fantasy novel. His editor should have pushed him to tighten that up. Lastly, Brian needs to be better explained.
But maybe that's how one needs to leave it if a sequel is planned.
I hope that can be corrected with a sequel, as I will purchase it.
Overall, it was worth the credit.

I enjoy a good time travel/time loop book, like Ken Grimwood's Replay, and this book caught my attention. It reads mostly like a fantasy book, but part way through it, time travel becomes an important element of the novel. It's well written and the characters are described nicely. The narration is excellent. Like a good detective story, clues are given along the way, which don't all fit into pieces until the end of the book. As such, I chose to re-listen to it a second time so as not to miss anything - and it was still enjoyable.
I'd love and encourage a sequel if the author is planning to write one.

This was a very entertaining and at times soulful look at a family in crisis. The parents are planning a divorce after one member has admitted to having a previous affair and their three children ( a rebellious 16 year old girl, a 14 year old boy with Asberger's like symptoms, and a highly autistic 1 1 year old son old who prefers to remain confined to their basement) eventually conspire to prevent it, In a Groundhog Day-like fashion, they attempt to save the marriage.
Martel can bounce between analyzing why marriages may fail and the sarcasm of a teenage girl struggling with her own coming of age issues, and the insights of an bright, but autistic child observing his family dynamics. Each chapter highlights the perspective of one of the 5 main characters. He is an excellent writer with both laugh out loud humor and the ability to portray a story from each of the perspectives of the parents and three children, along with the troubles they face in their personal lives.
Fred Berman does a great job of expressing the emotions and frustrations of each of the characters. Lastly, its the type of book where I needed to listen to it twice to pick out the clues that Martel has hidden in each version of the day. If you enjoy this as much as I did, I'd also recommend Spoonbenders by Daryl Gregory.

Being a fan of time travel stories, I found "And She Vanished" as part of my regular searching for in Audible for novels of this type. As I read the description, the plot seemed familiar and I remembered having read a similar book 5 years ago. I remembered " The Unexpected Gift of Joseph Bridgeman being mildly interesting, but otherwise not very memorable.
I decided to take a chance of this new version, and I was very happily surprised.
This story was so much better than the original. It was almost as if the original novel was a first draft, and the author has spent the past 5 years improving the storyline, the dialogue, adding depth and humanity to the characters, and finding the perfect narrator for this new, significantly improved version.
Having read the original, I had a basic understanding of the plot, but the new revision still made it a great read.
Admittedly, the concept of going back in time to correct past mistakes in your life is fantasy. Nick Jones does a great job in making it, and the hero's struggle with how to use his gift and the consequences it brings is very believable.
While Ken Grimwood's Replay still is at the top of my list of time travel novels, I give Kudos to Jones for reworking the story.
If you like time travel stories, you won't be disappointed.
