Whaat a great story!

This is so well performed and written, you feel like you are right there. I totally enjoyed this Audible Original, my fav of them all.

From the title, I was hoping for something like Leslie Langtry's Bombay family stories. This is dead boring compared to them. I found the Australian accent distracting and the rhythm of his diction was flat- the story might have been more entertaining with a different narrator. I was 3.5 hours into it when I just gave up- wasn't going to spend another 8 hours waiting for the funny to start. Don't waste your money.

I've listened to all the offerings in this series and am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed them. The wittisms, quick quips and banter is very amusing and keeps you engaged while the most unlikely detective works out who killed whom. They are all entertaining and I'd recommend starting with the first one and keep going through all five.

I'm so glad that I got this for free as I didn't have to go to the trouble of trying to get my money back. Ms Laurens really dropped the ball on this one, which surprised me as she is usually a great storyteller. I got #9 and #10 at the same time and #10 takes us back to her usual expertise. My advise is to skip this one unless you need some background noise.

This is just too uncomplicated and young for me. I have been enjoying a lot of YA lately, but this is just too predictable for me.

This is not up to Molly Harper's standard. It wasn't witty, funny or quaint. I was so bored, it took a while to realize I had not been paying attention and that it was droning on like background noise. I love everything else written by her, and have them all- but this series is not one I will continue to listen to.

Other people may find this a light hearted, romantic listen, and the story delightful- which is why I bought it after I read the reviews. For me, it was annoying. I am not the kind of animal owner that makes my pet my spoiled child, assigning it human feelings and actions. SO much of that in this book. I also found the story-line wasn't all that mysterious or entertaining, I could go on, but there's no sense. The narrator was excellent.

This is a great beginning, and because of that I got the rest of them, too. I'm not disappointed. The story isn't a difficult read, more engaging and a well-built fantasy world. The narrator does a great job. If you like fantasy, this series is worth your time.

DNF- too trite to waste time on

The character development, story-line, pacing and narration- all weak. It was beyond frustrating. I kept jumping forward trying to find the interesting parts, but they weren't there. Thankfully, I got it on sale so I didn't lose a credit over this. It's not worth a credit, it's barely worth the five bucks I lost on it. I'll be giving the hairy eyeball on anything written by Julia Kent before I buy.

Wonderful series, so well written! It's always great to find a new (to me) author that I enjoy, but to get the books for free on Audible Plus is even better.
