Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Unacceptable Recording Quality
Revisado: 11-11-22
This sounds mean, but this is literally the worst audiobook performance I have ever listen to. (Which is quite the disappointment, given the quality of info given)
I’m honestly not sure how it passed audible’s quality checks. It wasn’t recorded in a studio, the editing is so subpar, that you can hear a car driving by in the background, there are countless times where words overlap each other (!!) , she stumbles a couple times. (By countless, I’m guessing about 20-25 times)
- The inherent problem with this is it pulls you out of the narrative. So you end up missing the info shared in that phrase.
If this were a free book the author was giving away, I would totally understand it. But as a paid product on Audible, it is sadly NOT up to par.
Respectfully, I can tell she did a lot of work to perform and annunciate clearly. But without a studio or a professional sound engineer/editor, it just does not meet even basic standards.
I read almost exclusively via audiobook. Plus, as an author, I have worked with a professional narrator to produce a couple audiobooks, so I have quite a bit of knowledge on this subject.
Second, I will comment on the swearing. Normally when I see commenters complain about swearing I just assume they’re not really into it and it bothers them. However I swear a lot with friends.
But I don’t expect there to be an expletive multiple times in a few minutes. The thing with the F word is that when you say it out loud, it’s more impactful than when you read it on ‘paper.’ So when you’re listening to it SO many times it just constantly pulls you out of the ‘story.’ Because there are SOOO many swearwords I would probably cut about 80% of them.

Every Fortune 500 corporation, movie star, and scandal queen knows that a good publicist is essential to building success and maintaining public support. But if you're a small-business owner, an entrepreneur, or an undercapitalized beginner seeking an edge in a highly competitive arena, it's unlikely that you have your own high-powered publicist. Guerrilla P.R. 2.0 offers all the resources necessary to mount your own campaign and get the media exposure you need.

Outdated, but one’s valuable.
Revisado: 10-28-22
Published 2009. Outdated.
If you can look past the consistent flow of outdated information, you can learn the basics about PR and publicity. However, it’s probably wiser to find a different book or read the print book, so you can skip all the obviously outdated references.
This won’t actually help you save money, because the money saving techniques chapter is based on print. I doubt any journalist today wants to receive letters in the mail.
I chose 3*, since in 2009, it would’ve been a 5* book, vs a 1*.
Audible wants more words, so I’ll add: Personally, it annoyed me he said we’re living “in an ADHD world.” Since this was published, people have become aware that using this phrasing diminishes the struggles people with ADHD face. IT IS REAL, it is NOT something EVERYONE has. ADHD is about WAY more than distraction. That and the whole world doesn’t have a diagnosable condition.
I wish the author would revise the book for modern times, since he clearly knows what he’s doing. (And get a better narrator)
I recommend for people who have reading disabilities like me, so I have to use audiobooks.

For more than Indies
Revisado: 08-04-20
Wow. This is one of the best books on writing I have ever read. It goes beyond just Indie publishing. Traditional authors would benefit from Craig’s insights too! So many lightbulbs went off, and at this point, I’ve written ten books. Highly recommend.
Move over Stephen King’s “On Writing.” (Just kidding—every writing teacher has something different to offer that is valuable to different people)

Rob Inglis is awesome

I’m so glad he narrated this book! I will listen to anything he reads.
Keep in mind when you read this book that is was from a different era. Pace, style, reader expectations were all different back then. It won’t read like a book from 2020.
