Historia
“Before there was light, there was a vast emptiness. That is Mother Cold, and we will all return to her." "As Confederate soldier Martin Tomball faces death, freezing overnight on a battlefield, Mother Cold comes to make a deal—a deal that will curse his family for generations to come. Now, in the winter of 2021, Texas is hit with a state-wide ice storm, leaving millions of households without power. Siblings Jasper and Autumn Tomball are going to have to find a plan to stay warm until the ice thaws—or until Mother Cold comes to collect her bargain.”

Creepy, Chilly Novella
Revisado: 11-05-24
I really enjoyed this short Novella!
It definitely made me want to build up a nice toasty fire...
I was excited to dig into Mr. Tindol's new story after really enjoying his novel, "Hunting Snipe" and it did not disappoint.
THWNbW was creepy, fast paced and just a solid horror tale. It is certainly worth a listen.

Historia
Some art takes on a life of its own. A beautiful house. A loving family. Two kids, a dog, and a tenure-track professorship teaching art at the local university. Dan Rineheart is living the dream. But all dreams must end. When an anonymous painting arrives at the university, Dan is tasked with uncovering the artist. No title. No name. No signature or frame. It’s a disturbing work of grotesque perfection. A work of art...that changes with each viewing. So begins the nightmare. Where painted clocks tick-tock in the dark hours before dawn.

Van Wey is a guaranteed good time
Revisado: 10-27-24
This is my third Van Wey novel and I really enjoyed it! It's a vintage "decent into madness" tale with some on-brand creep factor for this author.
Tom Jordan is quite possibly the best narrator working today. He is a no frills, to the point reader that wraps you up into the story without becoming distracting.
I will read anything Van Wey creates, and while I preferred his Lost Coast novels, this one scratches the itch for a creepy October read.

Historia
It’s the mid-'90s. Grunge and flannel are fading as the Spice Girls and Hot Topic conquer the malls. Cherry gloss glistens on the lips of the youth. Modems hiss as America comes online. And in a fog-drenched cove at the edge of New England, something terrible awakens when a fisherman reels in a gruesome catch: the remains of a young woman. Remains still pulsing with furious life.

Cozy Body Horror?! Van Wey is just GREAT
Revisado: 09-04-24
Andrew Van Wey's writing fits into cozy little corner between Clive Barker's imaginative prose & Stephen King's authentic characters.
Head Like a Hole isn't an overly original tale. Nor is does it possess earthshattering twists.
That said, I loved every minute of it. The pacing & cliffhanger chapters forced me to keep listening.
An outstanding performance by Tom Jordan brought to life the characters without getting in the way of the story. He is the perfect narrator to draw you into a tale without distracting you from the details.
Buy this and enjoy!
