Historia
Ellis Rogers is an ordinary man who is about to embark on an extraordinary journey. All his life he has played it safe and done the right thing. But when he is faced with a terminal illness, Ellis is willing to take an insane gamble. He's built a time machine in his garage, and if it works, he'll face a world that challenges his understanding of what it means to be human, what it takes to love, and the cost of paradise. Ellis could find more than a cure for his disease; he might find what everyone has been searching for since time has begun.

Not a Typical Sci Fi Book…
Revisado: 10-19-24
The book was a mix of different genres. The background is sci fi but the story is really a murder mystery, philosophy on creationism vs Darwinism vs evolution, classism, what love is, equality vs discrimination vs hierarchy , what friendship is and do we really know people, what change is and how it happens in people. Overall, it was a good book and I recommend it, just do not expect a regular sci fi book.

Disappointing
Revisado: 07-06-22
The narrator does a good job bringing the characters to life. The 1st book leaves the reader interested in the story but in the second book the story is essentially a copy of “Hunger Games” and the main protagonist proclaims she loves someone sincerely, proclaiming her unwavering love and then immediately causally sleeps with someone else…..tarnishing that proclamation and her sincerity. Lost interest and did not finish the books.

It is also home to Aaron Envelar, a disillusioned sellsword known as the Silent Blade, who cares nothing for the criminal overlords or their schemes, who only wants to survive and make a little coin. But when a group of thugs steal his mother’s necklace, the only link he has to his murdered parents, Aaron decides that sometimes gold isn’t enough - sometimes, blood is the only payment worth taking.

Worth Listening to
Revisado: 06-23-22
The story is short and violent but riveting. A revenge tale. Only listen to it if you are ok with hearing about a large amount of violence and killing. Very well written although and the narrator does a good job bringing the story to life.

First Book Shows Potential. Second book is horrible
Revisado: 06-09-22
First book builds a world with magic and characters you will be interested in knowing and shows potential.. First book rating: 4.5
Second book is extremely disappointing. The main characters IQ drops by like 50 points and you will not be inspired to want to finish the book.
Second book rating: 2

Well Balance Action and Harem Book
Revisado: 05-31-22
Not a typical harem book. This book contains a better balance of action, plot, violence, and chivalry than just intimate situations. The narrator also does an excellent job.

Historia
Saunders' novel fuses the narrative style of fantasy fiction with a pre-colonial, alternate Africa. Inspired by and directly addresses the alienation of growing up an African-American fan of science fiction and fantasy, which to this day remains a very ethnically homogonous genre. It addresses this both structurally (via its unique setting) and thematically (via its alienated, tribeless hero-protagonist). The tribal tensions and histories presented in this fantasy novel reflect actual African tribal histories and tensions, and provide a unique perspective to recent conflicts in Africa.

Indifference
Revisado: 01-04-22
The performance was good but the story and the investment and empathy towards the characters was minimal. You are left feeling indifferent towards the characters and not invested in the story.
