Loved this book. Although there were momments when I wanted to thump Darrow in the head! Can not wait until the next book. Not much to add that others have not, but do want to throw my opinion in on the use of differet narrators. I really enjoyed it. While I know Tim could have pulled off the whole book...it was fun having different POV with different voices. They were good narrartors. I may have felt differently if they were bad...but they were pleasent to listen to! Hope they are back for the next book...and I hope that book comes out soon. :)

This is the weakest book in the series. The entire book seemed to be focused on sex, and I mean the entire book...even ending with an author note on a medical issue regarding it. Clearly Weeks cares about the issue, but honestly it took away from the story. But whatever, even without that issue, the book itself didn't really go anywhere and was pretty boring. I usually listen straight through and couldn't do it with this one. I kept having to make myself finish it and listened to two other short audiobooks in between. While I do enjoy all the characters, this book felt like filler. Will still listen to the 5th book in the hopes it will improve. Simon Vance was excellent as always, thank goodness!

What about Tim Gerard Reynolds and Michael J. Sullivan ’s performance did you like?
So happy that Tim Gerard Reynolds is continuing to narrate these books. He captures Royce and Hadrian perfectly. I'm looking forward the the Age of Myths and hope he narrates.

Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

My favorite!
Revisado: 10-30-15
What did you love best about Career of Evil?
I enjoyed the two previous books and this one turned out to be my favorite. The topics in all the books are dark, dealing with grisly murders after all. JK certainly has a dark side, which as a big HP fan, I shouldn't be surprised. However this book also deals with relationships. Both past and present. I am appreciating how the author is unraveling more and more information about Strike (his childhood, history, etc.) with each book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Stike and Robin of course! However, I'm really enjoying the additon of Shanker! Loved learning more about Stike's childhood and his mum.
What does Robert Glenister bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Please never get another narrator! Glenister is Strike! He also does the other voices with aplomb, including the females. Very tricky since Strike definetely has a man's man voice!
Any additional comments?
The ending! Nooooooooooo! Can't wait for the next edition to see what happens!

Captain Grimm commands the merchant ship Predator. Fiercely loyal to Spire Albion, he has taken their side in the cold war with Spire Aurora, disrupting the enemy's shipping lines by attacking their cargo vessels.

A Decent Start

Any additional comments?
I wasn't drawn into the book as strongly as I was with Jim Butcher's Furies or Dresden series. I don't know what it was exactly. It wasn't as if I didn't enjoy the story or narration. Perhaps it is because there are so many different characters and no one clear protagonist. So I didn't feel completely invested in any one character (as in the Furies and Dresden books), but I liked many. For me, the book seemed to provide a background for future books in the series to come. As this is a steampunk book, I felt Mr. Morton's narration was great. He captured a Victorian, more formal type feeling. In sum, I liked this book, but didn't love it. However, I have faith in Mr. Butcher and am looking forward to subsequent editions to the series!

Revisado: 08-20-15
What did you like best about this story?
I loved how Robin is connecting all her books together with this new series. Such a great story. I enjoyed the story a lot (just not the narration) and I can not wait for the next book! Especially since she left us with a couple cliffhangers!
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Elliot Hill?
In my previous review of the first book in this new trilogy, I rated Mr. Hill higher and thought he was ok but just not the narrator for this series. Well, he is even worse for this book. Please consider a different narrator. Perhaps Paul Boehmer...? And re-narrate book 1 and 2. The first book was mostly just Fitz and Bee's voices and I was okay with putting up with it...even though the Fool's voice was appalling...he gave him a crazy accent. But in this book....pretty much every character (except the women) sound like whiny, sniveling, weak, spoiled annoying men! From Chade, King Dutiful, Lord Vigilant, Riddle and more. But the final straw was...***spoiler alert if you don't want to know about the appearance of certain characters***...his voices for Reyn and Tats, and other Bing Town/Rain Wild characters! Oh my gosh...so bad! I mean really bad. Ok if he was going for whiny but so not them! I felt like the narrartor was clenching his teeth the entire time he did their voices. He is not the narrator for this series and I really feel like they are doing Robin Hobb and her great books a huge disservice by keeping him as narrator...and I think that I will just buy the print version (or Kindle version) for the next book.

Another shockingly suspenseful installment in #1 New York Times best-selling author Karen Marie Moning's Fever series. What does Phil Gigante and Natalie Ross bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
They are so great! Nothing but praises!
Any additional comments?
Ok, I have to say that despite some negative opinions that I liked this book! Although I did read some reviews here and on Goodreads, so I kind of was prepared for the direction that Moning took in this book. Possible spoilers ahead......I loved Iced and Dani was such a delightful, strong character that I would have loved to have read several more volumes outlining her adventures as she grew into a woman. However, let's get real...that wasn't going to happen, unless Moning decided to write a few YA books. I liked the direction that Moning took her. I kind of feel like she had to do something like what she did to Dani. And looking back at Iced, there were some clues that lend credance to what happened to her in Burned. I also enjoyed seeing Mac and Barrons again and don't agree with some of the negative comments regarding her personality. I think that Moning made it very clear that Mac is dealing with some serious issues and that she acted accordingly. And I wasn't a fan of Jo or Kat in Iced...but I am now. Excited to see what happens with those characters. The book is definetely setting us up for some awesomeness in Feverborn. Can't wait!

As a previous reviewer noted, this book is even better than the first. I found out about this series by way of the recent BBC production. I wanted to read (listen) it before the series aired here in the U.S. While I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, I really loved this second book. The author delves more into the story and the characters and especially Demelza. It ends in such a way that you will want to get the third novel. I'm really hoping that audible has the next books available. Makes me want to visit Cornwall! The narrator is good, had no problems with her.

This book was a fun ride! Please do yourself a favor and listen to the author's previous novel 14! I loved how these two books tied together and I really hope there's a third book! Ray Porter did a fabulous job narrating. Definitely felt like this was a credit well spent.
