Dramatic, immersive and gripping
Revisado: 07-28-20
I never read the comics so this audiobook was a completely new and raw experience for me. And I loved it to the bone <3 I'm so glad I rarely give five stars to books, and this was worth every tiny dust of it!
It was dramatic, immersive, gripping, it gave me shivers and brought me to the verge of tears. When I started this book I couldn't stop. Very well performed (holy hell, I could talk about each voice actor, but, GOD, James McAvoy as Dream/Morpheus...!!!!! I could listen to that voice for hours and hours, as a mantra, as a sleeping pill, as a calming ASMR - seriously, I am in love, it was THAT good!). And of course very well written, Neil Gaiman himself as a narrator was a wonderful choice, because you could still feel that it is an adaptation from comics, the flow was different than a usual book would have, therefore sometimes it was a little hard to follow, but honestly, his narration filled in the gaps really well.
The sound design was on point, the voices were clear and sharp, no distracting mouth sounds, "P's" and whistling "S'. There could have been a little less background effects like smoking or eating sounds, which could annoy some people, but overall quality made a very immersive soundscape. Only one thing that started to annoy the hell out of me was that intro music which played at the beginning of every chapter - it got old quite quickly. But other than that, ooooh my god, the soundtrack!!! It gave the feeling of unease right where it was needed, uplifted, sent chills or gave that final punch in the gut at some points to make me an emotional wreck. Ooooh, that sad theme with a choir in the background, repeated a few times throughout the book, I can still hear it... There was only one other place where music had such an emotional effect on me, it was a game called Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, and like there, here it manipulated the atmosphere and my state of mind as it pleased. As a music lover I really appreciated the soundtrack quality, which made the whole experience more cinematic. I hope they release the soundtrack separately, would be interesting to hear it without distractions, and I'm sure it would easily find a place among my favorite albums.
Overall, this audiobook was a big roller-coaster, an experience - to put it lightly, and a good one indeed. I'm out of words. Worth a listen, try it!

Meet Moti Ferreira - spectacularly jinxed from the day she's born. Saddled with an eccentric mother, she stumbles upon the one man who holds the key to her freedom - the best man at her cousin's upcoming wedding. All Moti has to do is overcome her fear of water, board a yacht to the Greek Isles, seduce the dreamy Nikos Manolas, and survive two weeks at sea with her oddball family. The only obstacle Moti doesn't see coming is Alexandros Veronis, the onboard chef and star witness to her awkward mishaps.

Hilarious and entertaining
Revisado: 04-21-20
I really enjoyed this book, Leylah Attar has once again proved to have a good hand at writing character driven story. Overall writing style felt easy and was flowing nicely, therefore very enjoyable to listen to. The main character Moti's mishaps, self-deprecation and the humor with Siiri Scott's narration was on point!
Narration itself was a little slow for my taste, but once I sped it up to 1.4x it was so much better. I took one star off of the performance, because that one (or two?) chapters from Alex's perspective threw me off, and the narration by Alexander Candese, however a nice voice tone he has, was bad and sounded cheesy and even aggressive at some point. That part was a miss for me.
But overall, this story was an EXPERIENCE, and in an audio format it was very well done. Quirky, passionate, heartwarming, a little cheeky, but overall a great read. Totally recommend it!

Magical experience
Revisado: 08-02-19
What an entertaining and engaging story with fun diverse characters. The dialogues were so good and the humor was spot on! This story has an interesting magic system which was one of the main reasons I picked up this book. And hats off to a fantastic narrator's work, so many characters and they all had their unique voices - at times it felt like not one but a whole cast of actors working. Really brought this book to life. I can heartily recommend this to anyone who loves fantasy with more action that worldbuilding. Will be looking into other books in this series for sure!

Beautiful story, great narration
Revisado: 04-20-19
One of the most beautiful stories I've ever came across. I'm so happy that I found this duology, it is going directly to my favorites shelf. Also a very good narrator, the same as in the first book.

The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around - and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was five years old he's been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself in the person of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance or lose his dream forever.

Magnificent!
Revisado: 02-08-19
I am completely blown away. What a beautiful story and the way it is told. Flowing like a melody or a river, every word weighted and prerequisite. It fillled my soul with joy and sadness, and left me speechless. You rarely come across a book that consumes you. And the narration was so good, spot on. This book is trully a masterpiece.
