Historia
All Noemi Broussard wanted was a fresh start. With a new boyfriend who actually treats her right and a plan to move from the reservation she grew up on—just like her beloved Uncle Louie before her—things are finally looking up for Noemi. Until the news of her boyfriend’s apparent suicide brings her world crumbling down. But the facts about Roddy’s death just don’t add up, and Noemi isn’t the only one who suspects that something menacing might be lurking within their tribal lands.

Great Story; uneven narration
Revisado: 05-05-24
Great story, and although I enjoyed the voices of both narrators, the male narrator’s difficulties with delivery made listening difficult. Will definitely read more by this author.

Great!
Revisado: 04-09-23
I’ve followed Chris Bledsoe’s story for years and am glad it is finally out in a book. I really liked the narration—it didn’t distract from the story.
There aren’t many people like Chris in terms of humility and honesty. If you are not used to that sort of person you may not “get” why his story is so amazing and encouraging.

Disappointed
Revisado: 03-07-22
This book is a real disservice to trees and the people who love them. Wohlleben characterizes all tree processes in human emotions. Let’s face it—it’s hard for one human to know what another human is feeling, much less know what another species thinks or feels.
It ends up feeling very manipulative of the reader or listener’s emotions.

Historia
From the hit podcast Unexplained comes a volume perfectly crafted for the curious, the cynical, and the not-easily frightened. Richard MacLean Smith is the expert in the unknown and humbly offers up 10 tales of real-life events that continue to evade explanation. With these chilling stories comes the missing key: a connection to our own beliefs in science, superstition, and perception.

Horrible Narration
Revisado: 01-21-22
Those who buy the audiobook because they are fans of the podcast will be severely disappointed. Bruce Mann’s narration is horrible, made more so in comparison to the natural voice talent of Richard MacLean Smith.

Thought Provoking
Revisado: 10-28-20
Thought provoking. Will lead curious readers down many rabbit holes of exploration. Muraresku’s thesis is sufficiently broad that it can’t possibly be supported in one volume. But it points the way towards further research and exploration, as well as self-reflection for most Christians on the tenets and sources of their faith.
The audio version is very well performed.

Historia
In this book, Corey Taylor undertakes something never before attempted in the history of rock superstardom: he takes you with him as he journeys undercover through various ghostbusting groups who do their best to gather information and evidence about the existence of spirits. Taylor also gives you a behind-the-scenes tour of his crazy life and the many beyond-the-grave events he's encountered. (You'll be shocked how often Slipknot has been invaded by the supernatural).

Disappointing
Revisado: 10-14-18
I'd bought this book after hearing a podcaster mention it as a collection of the paranormal experiences of a rock musician. It is light on stories but heavy on Corey Taylor trying to be clever and self depreciating. Unfortunately, his barometer for clever writing is stuck in high school English class. He would benefit from more input and coaching on his writing process. Also, at a certain point the constant use of profanity just reveals not only a limited vocabulary but also a limited mindset. Plenty of people curse colorfully and creatively. Taylor doesn't just use obscenity as a crutch. He uses it like a wheelchair.

Mitch Horowitz presents a meticulously researched, compulsively listenable history of the mystical and spiritual experience in our country. Focusing on the impact that the 19-century movements of Freemasonry, Spiritualism, and transcendentalism have had on America, Horowitz portrays a colorful cast of characters as he explains the origins of the Ouija board, the political influence of Spiritualism on the Senate, and the source of the mysterious slogan on the back of the dollar bill.

Insensitive Narration
Revisado: 01-14-18
When reading dialogue from Southern African-Americans who practiced folk medicine, the narrator used a HORRIBLE vaguely Caribbean accent. He conflated Southern rootworkers with Caribbean voodoo practitioners, something the author does not do. Maybe he thinks all black people sound alike?
