Nazis are bad. The worst kind of bad. There are no very fine people among them. If you disagree, you won’t like this book. Still here? Cool. You are about to receive an education unlike any you’ve previously experienced. In this uproarious and informative tour from ancient times to the modern day and everything in between, James Fell, the self-proclaimed “sweary historian,” reveals a past replete with deeds both noble and despicable. Throughout the book, he provides insightful analysis of all the sh!t that went down. Behold!

Historia
For much of the twentieth century, a series of terrible events—abuse, both physical and psychological, and even deaths—took places inside orphanages. The survivors have been trying to tell their astonishing stories for a long time, but disbelief, secrecy, and trauma have kept them from breaking through. For ten years, Christine Kenneally has been on a quest to uncover the harrowing truth.

It hurts.
Revisado: 05-24-23
Having a family member raised in and out of an orphanage and have her never coaxed into talking about it makes me so sad. I wish she could have read this book.

Historia
It’s been a decade since Trumanell Branson disappeared, leaving only a bloody handprint behind. Her pretty face still hangs like a watchful queen on the posters on the walls of the town’s Baptist church, the police station, and in the high school. They all promise the same thing: We will find you. Meanwhile, Tru's brother, Wyatt, lives as a pariah in the desolation of the old family house, cleared of wrongdoing by the police but tried and sentenced in the court of public opinion and in a new documentary about the crime.

Performance
Revisado: 05-10-21
I've listened to many, many books over the years and never have I heard one as well read. The story itself was slow and circular but the readers were well worth every minute. I will follow these performers in the future.

Historia
Cal Hooper thought a fixer-upper in a bucolic Irish village would be the perfect escape. After 25 years in the Chicago police force and a bruising divorce, he just wants to build a new life in a pretty spot with a good pub where nothing much happens. But when a local kid whose brother has gone missing arm-twists him into investigating, Cal uncovers layers of darkness beneath his picturesque retreat, and starts to realize that even small towns shelter dangerous secrets.

Slow start
Revisado: 12-19-20
It took a chapter or so to become involved in the story but I trusted this author and continued. As I listened I began to understand the reason for this reader. As the story unfolds I found myself caught in the intrigue and depth of the characters and this reader brought real identity to the protagonist. Tana French and Roger Clark have succeeded and produced a wonderful story.

Historia
Growing up on the Navajo Indian Reservation, David Crow and his siblings idolized their dad. Tall, strong, smart, and brave, the self-taught Cherokee regaled his family with stories of his World War II feats. But as time passed, David discovered the other side of Thurston Crow, the ex-con with his own code of ethics that justified cruelty, violence, lies - even murder. A shrewd con artist with a genius IQ, Thurston intimidated David with beatings to coerce him into doing his criminal bidding. David's mom, too mentally ill to care for her children, couldn't protect him.

Too many tears!
Revisado: 10-06-18
The story went on way too long. Can’t count the amount of sentences that talk about tears. Tears galore, tears sliding, tears falling even tears of joy. Talk about weak woman, this book has them all. There is very little dedicated to strength and power.

The Visitor
Revisado: 07-27-04
I lke books by Lee Child usually but the narrator ruins this book. I tried to listen to it three different times and could not get through the first hour. I will purchase the book and just read it when time permits. Don't waste your money on this one.

Noise, Noise, Noise
Revisado: 05-24-04
I could not tell if it was a good listen or not. The sound effects were much to loud and I could not hear the story. I tried several times to restart the book but could never get past all the noise. I would rather just hear the voices and forget the helicopters.
