Romance served southern style
Revisado: 02-01-22
While I probably won’t listen to further books in this series, this romance features a sympathetic main character and some interesting supporting characters.
I rarely change the listening speed but ended up bumping it up to 1.3x due to the narrator who spoke slowly without much inflection.
Overall, there seemed to be a lack of quality and oversight to the recording that really distracted from the listening experience.
The narrator mispronounced several words. In one case, it was a word that was referenced multiple times.
Also, the end of chapter 7 was missing. I had to download the book via Kindle Unlimited to read about the incident that was referenced in chapter 8 that completely was missing from the audio. There could be other missing sections - this was just obvious. In another section, part of a random sentence is repeated.
So, if you are debating upon whether to read or listen to this book - definitely read. This recording and narrator does the story no favors.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Historia
Tracy Slater may be a successful pop star, but fame and fortune isn't everything she thought it'd be. Under the thumb of a husband who is growing steadily more abusive, she's decided her marriage is over. She just needs to make it through one more trip home for the holidays with him before she's free. Stephen Austin worked hard to become the successful novelist he's always wanted to be. So why isn't he happy? Then he runs into his old girlfriend, the one he thought he had lost forever.

Breakup & makeup over the holiday
Revisado: 12-08-21
This story seemed both too long & too short.
From the very beginning, the outcome is very clear & it’s just a matter of waiting to get there. As a contrast to this, there are also serious issues that are glossed over to serve as simple plot devices.

Historia
An HR specialist and trauma counselor, Stacie is on the board of a fledgling non-profit foundation set up to benefit victims of domestic violence. After a slashed tire, attempted break in, and a murder, Stacie isn’t buying coincidental bad karma. Someone wants her off the board - at any cost. Her fancy surveillance equipment, impressive alarm system, and a ferocious Maltese dog offer only so much protection. That may not be enough when politics are involved. Enter Kevin McNair, a smooth talker with piercing blue eyes. Can she trust him with her heart or her life?

Fun cozy mystery

Overall fun listen mainly due to fast pace and good narration. Unfortunately, not as enjoyable as the first book in this series. There are too many unbelievable coincidences and far-fetched actions.

Enjoyable with excellent pacing
Revisado: 12-02-21
The story feels very fresh and moves very quickly. This is the first in a series and is a relatively short length but it feels like the perfect length for the actual story. Hopefully, in future books, the main character and the supporting characters will become more fully developed.
