Historia
Few American institutions have inflicted greater suffering on ordinary people than the Supreme Court of the United States. Since its inception the justices of the Supreme Court have shaped a nation where children toiled in coal mines, where Americans could be forced into camps because of their race, and where a woman could be sterilized against her will by state law.

Good research but very demoralizing
Revisado: 09-02-23
I had to stop and restart this several times. I would get so angry about how unelected judges have let their opinions ruin lives for centuries. not just today. Good research on the part of the author. I do not like this reader at all. His voice is scratchy and always sounds like he is whispering.

Historia
We are at a tipping point in retail history. While consumers are profiting from the convenience of instant gratification, rapidly advancing technologies are transforming the way goods are transported and displacing workers in ways never before seen. In Arriving Today, Christopher Mims goes deep, far, and wide to uncover how a single product, from creation to delivery, weaves its way from a factory on the other side of the world to our doorstep.

interesting but technical
Revisado: 04-17-22
Not as good as I thought it was going to be. The facts and research were good, but it was very dry and technical.
Reader good, but all the "do over" passages sounded different. it was very obvious when a do over had been inserted.

slice of life, nothing happened
Revisado: 10-19-20
I wanted to listen to this because it's been made into a Netflix movie. but seriously, nothing happened. it was just a bunch of stories about growing up in a certain neighborhood in Naples Italy.

Great story, great narrator!
Revisado: 07-29-20
I heard several recommendations for this book so I knew it was going to be good, but it definitely is worthy of all the praise. The reader is fantastic, first-rate. I'm excited to read more Brit Bennet after this. Some of her metaphors and place names were a little on-the-nose, like "Maison Blanche" as the name of Stella's workplace when she decided to pass as white, but it's a minor point haha.
