Repetitive

I enjoyed The Coward immensely, but I was disappointed with this book. Too many chapters were spent repeating character struggles that had already been stated without progressing their growth or moving the story forward. It was terribly repetitive and in turn became boring. The characters were not as interesting as in the last story, and I felt overly dissatisfied with the book.

Historia
Kell Kressia is a legend, a celebrity, a hero. Aged just 17, he set out on an epic quest with a band of wizened fighters to slay the Ice Lich and save the world, but only he returned victorious. The Lich was dead, the ice receded, and the Five Kingdoms were safe. Ten years have passed; Kell lives a quiet farmer's life, while stories about his heroism are told in every tavern across the length and breadth of the land. But now a new terror has arisen in the north. Beyond the frozen circle, north of the Frostrunner clans, something has taken up residence in the Lich's abandoned castle.

A fantastic quest that explores harsher realities
Revisado: 03-25-25
The story really draws you in. A good cast of characters that you grow to care for. The narrator does a great job, but there were a couple technical errors throughout (repeated phrases and volume issue). Very well written, my only complaint is that there is some repetition in character’s inner thoughts, but to be fair I binged this book (which should tell you that it’s good) so it was more apparent to me. Overall I greatly enjoyed this story and the themes that it held, and I’m eager to continue the series!

The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night. But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway - a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors.

Splendid Storytelling
Revisado: 01-29-25
Beautiful story with vivid dream-like settings. Complex enough to require an attentive audience, but not so much that it leaves the audience confused. Wonderful cast of characters that are refreshingly unique. I absolutely loved this book, and while I was satisfied with the conclusion, I was sad for it to end. Best story I’ve heard in a while, with a wonderful narrator. Highly recommend.

I was fully immersed in the story at all times. It had me grinning wide and heavy hearted in equal measure. Absolutely loved it and I’m eager for more of the story.

Historia
Winter lasts most of the year at the edge of the Russian wilderness, and in the long nights, Vasilisa and her siblings love to gather by the fire to listen to their nurse’s fairy tales. Above all, Vasya loves the story of Frost, the blue-eyed winter demon. Wise Russians fear him, for he claims unwary souls, and they honor the spirits that protect their homes from evil. Then Vasya’s widowed father brings home a new wife from Moscow. Fiercely devout, Vasya’s stepmother forbids her family from honoring their household spirits, but Vasya fears what this may bring.
