Do plot twists, interesting dialog, realism and trope avoidance matter to you? This is not your book. If you want a predictable slog, with dull dialog and predicable nonsense at every turn... burn that credit. This was a snoozer for me...made to the part where Jenny explains to Forrest that he love her (couple hours in) note: that was after she introduced the dudes dog to her girl dog and they shacked up to survive the end times. You folks that gave this five stars need to expand your literary horizons.

Flat narration on a boring story

Could not get past the first hour or two.

The story was just not there for me....I tried but after a strong opening chapter the story just sort of unraveled, went to boring places that made me give it up. This may be for some people but for me ... not so much.

We could not possibly have listened to the same story. I have enjoyed a few other books from this author, but this thing, this book is rubbish. Save your credit. Listen to Spin or Last Year....this one...it's a mess.

I wanted to love it. 85 hours is a ton of content for 1 credit....that might be the clue. Many of you seem to love it...(I read the 4.7 average star reviews) It just was not my cup of tea. Rolled with it...till they rolled out the wizardry.

I don't get how this book rates an average of 4.3

The narrator was on point.....but the premise. Sigh....just could not stay on for the ride. The science is definitely fictional...so much so that it bounced me out of the book. This title is not "science fiction" but something more akin to fantasy. If you are into that....the author paints an interesting world...it's simply one that makes no sense.

Lobster aliens with 4 legs....you have been warned

Would you try another book from Neal Asher and/or David Marantz?
Eh....not so sure....the writing was fine...but...the aliens...the nukes...the tropes....was too much for me. I didn't last more then a couple hours. You guys that keep throwing out five star reviews should stick to reviewing comic books.
Would you ever listen to anything by Neal Asher again?
