Everything follows the previous book like how a proper sequel should. There’s a little less focus on the friends surrounding Lily, but the added attention to characters that needed them (after the events of the previous book) along with two additional members (one probably permanent, the other more intermittent) is great. Whereas I couldn’t really keep track of the time for the previous book, this one is wholly set towards a single week - Spring Break. It should be easier to understand and enjoy if those who listened to the previous book didn’t like the small mystery provided; this one definitely ties up all loose ends and adds more fun slice-of-life events.
Also, Lily is truly a helpless protagonist who never asked for this strange talent of attracting the weirdos to her. She did nothing wrong, let her sleep.

Best Voice: Sanada and Kizuna.
Best Scene: The Club Room’s Origins.
Best Character: New character Sanada blitzes her way to the top at the speed of an amalgamated Vespa. She’s overly exaggerated but in the most fun ways. If there’s one character you’ll love to watch interact with others while dreading ever being her target, Sanada’s it.

Lily Clairet is WRITTEN to be an audio-book. The story is made to be dialogue heavy supported with descriptive breaks to help bring the scenes to life in one’s theater of mind. It’s trope-y but not annoying, it’s wholesome with a hint of cringe sometimes. It’s just Lily and her friends living their idyllic high-school life.
Overall, this is just a nice, wholesome story to immerse yourself in. Listen to it when you’ve time to chill, the way the dialogue and interactions are written could inspire you to better write your own.

More thoughts if you want to read them…

The voice’s performance is excellent. I had trouble identifying the characters at first, but that’s because I was trying to put the manga images provided in the accompanying PDF with the characters they represented in my mind. To enjoy the story and learn these characters, I recommend to instead listen to the subtle shifts in tone and pitch of the speaker. She really does an excellent job in making every character feel different enough to know who’s speaking, even if it’s a newly introduced character.

The script for the dialogue is also quite a treat - I mean, the voice can only go so far to tell a story. The well-written script - especially the dialogue - goes a long way to making these characters feel believable. They’re not entirely lifelike - each of the cast is essentially an archetype - but it feels like the author understands how to present them in their best light. It’s nice identifying the archetypes in the characters and seeing them NOT so overly exaggerated, like in manga or anime.

I don’t want to write too much because no one really reads reviews. This audiobook blew me away. If you like a fantastical world - honestly, it’s closer to “magepunk”, if I can merge the words together and still make sense - that takes place in something like The Great War in Europe, then you’ll enjoy this. I didn’t expect to see world-economics being explained and explored here either, but it’s fun to read fiction that applies cold logic to this “little girl’s war”.

Tl;DR: This is a good, well-written, serious (with some circumstantial comedy) Isekai. The world isn’t some kind of sandbox for a power-tripping main character. The weakest part might be that the detail is a little too much, but that’s the curse/blessing of world-building.
