Too long and didn’t care for the domestic violence

The story was going on too long. She needed to get out of a marriage and it was dragging on. I even sped the recording up fast to shorten it up. However, when we hit the span of severe domestic violence, I checked out. Was done with the story by then. Could be very triggering for some people.

Was great then got boring then disgusting

I love pirate history and the first hour was great. Then a long detailed history of Elizabethan economics. Then detailed accounts of child abuse so grisly my stomach turned. Completely unnecessary for the book to progress. I turned it off and deleted it. Not wasting 9 more hours to happenstance on something like that again. Where was the editor to cut this kind of thing? Good content, bad judgement on what to include.

Truly interesting true crime

True crime of rags to riches self-made millionaire, unsolved murder, transgender before it was in our culture, madness and (get this) druids! Can’t make this up! Real interviews. Even if the narration was a bit normal the story is fascinating. I knocked 1 point off because the plot failed to be clear to ‘follow the money’ on the bank accounts. Listened to whole thing straight through while working in the yard.
