Historia
In the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump and many around him, including certain other elected Republican officials, intentionally breached their oath to the Constitution: they ignored the rulings of dozens of courts, plotted to overturn a lawful election, and provoked a violent attack on our Capitol.

I didn’t think I would hear anything new…

An incredible account of the attempted coup, presented in a logical and factual way. Also gives some background on Mike Johnson which was interesting.

Historia
It’s official. Miriam Feldman's mastered boredom, aced invisibility, and graduated summa cum laude in smiling and playing nice in her post-divorce life. Then her best friend gets tangled up with some vamps and goes missing. If that’s not scary enough, Miri snaps, and in a cold dark rage, unleashes a rare and powerful shadow magic. Now, with only a mouthy golem and a grumpy-yet-sexy French wolf shifter to help her navigate this world of hidden magic, she’s in a race against time to rescue her friend and keep her loved ones safe from the skeletons in her past.

Narrator is everything
Revisado: 02-24-22
This audiobook needs Lorelei King. The narrator has her intensity turned up to 11 the whole book. She sounds like a kid in their 6th grade play that doesn’t know how to modulate their voice. I enjoyed the story, it just needs a better voice actor to be great.

Historia
Semele Cavnow appraises antiquities for an exclusive Manhattan auction house. When she discovers a manuscript written in the time of Cleopatra, she knows it will be the find of her career. Its author tells the story of a priceless tarot deck, now lost to history. As Semele delves further, she realizes the manuscript is more than it seems. Both a memoir and a prophecy, it appears to be the work of a powerful seer, describing devastating wars and natural disasters in detail thousands of years before they occurred.

Good story but insensitive at times
Revisado: 10-29-20
This was a good story even though it was a little convoluted at times. My main point of contention is the author uses the term “real” parent instead of “biological” parent several times throughout the book. Words matter and I find that description outdated and insensitive. Being a real parent has absolutely nothing to do with biology and to suggest as much is out of touch.

Historia
At the end of the Second World War, Cyril Conroy combines luck and a single canny investment to begin an enormous real estate empire, propelling his family from poverty to enormous wealth. His first order of business is to buy the Dutch House, a lavish estate in the suburbs outside of Philadelphia. Meant as a surprise for his wife, the house sets in motion the undoing of everyone he loves. The story is told by Cyril’s son Danny, as he and his older sister, the brilliantly acerbic and self-assured Maeve, are exiled from the house where they grew up by their stepmother.

So glad I listened!
Revisado: 04-14-20
I have debated listening to this title for a while now. I just didn’t connect with the publisher’s teaser revealing what this book was about. Realizing now how hard it is to describe this book I understand their plight. Just dive in and listen to Tom Hanks bring this book to life. You won’t regret the time you spend in “The Dutch House”.
