Historia
Arthur Parnassus lives a good life built on the ashes of a bad one. He’s the headmaster of a strange orphanage on a distant and peculiar island, and he hopes to soon be the adoptive father to the six dangerous and magical children who live there. Arthur works hard and loves with his whole heart so none of the children ever feel the neglect and pain that he once felt as an orphan on that very same island so long ago. He is not alone: joining him is the love of his life, Linus Baker, a former caseworker in the Department in Charge of Magical Youth.

We NEED these characters in the world.
Revisado: 12-04-24
When the second book is even better than the first and the first was DELIGHTFUL?? You know it’s good. I absolutely loved these sweet characters. In a time of so much hate in the world, this is an important story of real life and real love.

Wickedly fun and sexy and pro women
Revisado: 07-27-22
I have loved all Sarah Maclean’s books (save 1) but what really sets off Bombshell is Mary Jane Well’s narration!! She is phenomenal!! The inflection, the clever pauses— this book would not be the same without her masterful take. I also love the story— I love how the author always ensures the women are prioritized in their pleasure from their men, and the men are good. I also love the accuracy of the steamy scenes. Nothing grates more than an author who doesn’t understand anatomy or women’s pleasure. Sarah MacLean has certainly done her research, and hopefully is paving the way for more people to understand what real pleasure and partnership can look like. Cannot WAIT for the next book in the Hell’s Belles series!!

I didn’t know what to expect from this original and was so delightfully surprised by how funny and poignant and sweet it turned out! What a lovely short listen. Would certainly recommend.

Historia
Linc Kingston doesn’t accept anything less than perfection. Not in his billion-dollar business or in his personal life. He has it all, except one thing: his personal assistant and best friend in his bed, moaning his name. No matter how much Linc wants her, she’s completely off-limits. Jordan Greene grew up the daughter of the housekeeper at the Kingston estate, where she met and bonded with Linc at a young age, despite their economic differences.

C is for Consent!!!
Revisado: 08-25-21
It’s 2021 people. How are we still writing about and accepting male leads who not once but TWICE in a mere 5 hours book, pressure the female lead into sex when she says NO?! “Oh but she wanted it…” But she said NO. Infuriating. The story was also so tired and recycled. Lacked any believable depth. Glad it was free or I’d have returned it after the first hour. The female narrator also sounded like robotic Alexa.

Historia
I've got small-town problems aplenty and zero time for Paxton “Alaska” Charter. Crushing on smoke-show men with caveman vibes can't end well. Sure, he saved my little coffee shop from total ruin once. Yes, my ovaries melt watching single dad of the century with his little boy. Of course, I'd sleep like a baby if I let him work his former SEAL hero magic on my mess. That's not why I'm freaking out. Nobody told me how devastatingly kind Alaska can be. Or the fact that his stubborn heart's even more guarded than mine.

Decent story that could be 1 hour less
Revisado: 08-19-21
I enjoyed the thriller aspects of this book, but it was hard to get on the side of the female main. Constantly thinking she’s not worth anything. Paxton made this a hunky summer read but his dirty talk was a little jarring—didn’t seem to fit with any of his other actions. Also the book could have been 1 hour less. There is literally nothing that happens in the last hour— so boring.

Recycled Story, but the Plot Thickens
Revisado: 07-30-21
The first part of this book was so recycled from other storylines. Dull and obvious, the psy are all abused children, bonded by their trauma. But then the overarching storyline started to take some interesting leaps. I just wish the ending hadn’t wrapped up so abruptly with a bow. It felt lazy— there was no crazy, difficult second act for the characters although there was plenty of opportunity for the father and brother to wreak havoc. Also disappointing how they wrapped up her tumors with such ease. Another plot line that had so much potential but wrapped up easily with no conflict or plot furthering. I almost returned the book in the beginning but started to enjoy the overarching plot. Hope the next one gets back to some Changeling packs.

Lovely Story
Revisado: 03-08-21
This was a great listen to remind us the importance of the love of adult family. It’s not an easy listen because of the depth of reality in the subject but oh it’s the real stuff that matters. The writing really made you feel it. And want to call your brothers.

It should have been a case like any other: a missing princess, a king willing to pay in gold for her return. But before he realizes it, private investigator Eddie LaCrosse, a slightly shopworn sword jockey with a talent for discretion and detection, is swept up in a web of mystery and deceit involving a brutally murdered royal heir, a queen accused of an unspeakable crime, and the tragic past he thought he'd left behind.

Tired Premise.
Revisado: 03-03-21
I’m just tired of all the period pieces. I get it everyone was abhorrent to women in this time (and a lot today!!) but I don’t find it entertaining to read about. The book was bloody, rapey, and didn’t have a good enough twist at the end to make me like spending my hours listening to it. The narrator was good for the male characters but sounded like the “it puts the lotion in the basket” guy for the female characters. Too distracting.

Another great book in the series! Wish it had been broken up into more books like the last ones. This plot could have supported far more detail. Would recommend this series to everyone.

Historia
Wallie Smith can feel the pain. He goes to the hospital, remembers the doctors and the commotion, but when he wakes up it all seems like a dream. However, if that was a dream how do you explain waking up in another body and in another world? Little Wallie finds himself in the physique of a barbarian swordsman, accompanied by both an eccentric priest babbling about the Goddess and a voluptuous slave girl. Is this a rude awakening or a dream come true?

SO glad these are on Audible now!
Revisado: 10-18-18
I remember reading these books in my youth, and being swept away in the wonderful fantasy world Dave Duncan created. I am thrilled to have them available on Audible, and loved the narration. Donald Corren brought all my favorite characters alive, most notably the perfect inflections and mannerisms of Hanakura. Well done!! Can’t wait to listen to the other three!
