Historia
In this Audible Original “mini-memoir”, the Academy Award-winning star of Little Miss Sunshine and Argo looks back on his life as a series of philosophical turning points, learning experiences, and a-ha moments. Drawn from a collection of seemingly inexplicable stories and encounters from Arkin's 84 years on this planet, Out of My Mind is a candid, relatable and delightfully irreverent take on how one man went searching for meaning and ended up discovering himself.

Tedious
Revisado: 12-22-18
Arkin’s monotone performance is perfectly gauged to his uninspired self-analysis. Some of the stories are interesting but overall the book is pointless. If you’re enamored with Arkin onscreen, you’ll continue your fandom. If you can take or leave him onscreen, then leave him here.

On the snow-covered slopes of Utah, the unthinkable has just become a nightmarish reality: thirty Secret Service agents have been viciously executed and the vacationing president of the United States kidnapped by one of the most lethal terrorist organizations in the Middle East - the Fatah Revolutionary Council. But surviving agent and ex-Navy SEAL Scot Harvath doesn't believe the Fatah Revolutionary Council is responsible for the attack.

Detail Bogdown
Revisado: 12-09-18
Well-researched, I’m sure but the plethora of unnecessary detail (about locations, weapons, etc.) detract from the story movement. So much time spent providing initial story setup followed 80 chapters later with a rush to conclusion. And killers who spend unbelievable time “talking” about what they’re going to do. I’d prefer a more character driven story. I kept waiting for the book to conclude so I could find a better story to spend my drive time with.

Don't Let Movie Fool You
Revisado: 03-10-08
I was disappointed in character development in the movie and was prepared for mild disappointment here. Not so. You'll feel the child's pain and the anger as he ages. You'll be wanting more when it's over - the best way to end a good book.

Great Traveling Listen
Revisado: 11-02-06
Just finished a 10-day driving vacation with family and this was an excellent listen for the entire group (ages 10-16 and adults). Having read/listened to the first book is helpful, but wasn't necessary as we had some who hadn't heard it yet. The story is self-contained enough to enthrall. Don't be dissuaded by the fact that it's classified as a children's book - it's a well-written and captivating tale.

Heralded as an instant classic of fantasy literature, Maguire has written a wonderfully imaginative retelling of The Wizard of Oz told from the Wicked Witch's point of view. More than just a fairy tale for adults, Wicked is a meditation on the nature of good and evil.

Almost Fully Satisfying
Revisado: 11-02-06
Provided an intriguing back story to the well-known Wicked Witch of the West. Seemed as though some of the threads were insufficiently left hanging, however. At the conclusion, I was still wondering what I'd missed. Good listen, but mildly dis-satisfying.

Up Then Down Then Up
Revisado: 09-24-06
Starts well - capturing interest causing the reader to take new looks at generally accepted "facts" (conventional wisdom). But then begins to become too introspective, too personal, and generally too boring - I couldn't have listened to the middle of the book without driving, I'd have gone to sleep. The last section on names was interesting but drawn out with very little point. I'd recommend it because it can get mental juices flowing; but not an intriguing read for the entire length of the book.

Historia
The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu, so too can a small but precisely targeted push cause a fashion trend, the popularity of a new product, or a drop in the crime rate. This widely acclaimed bestseller, in which Malcolm Gladwell explores and brilliantly illuminates the tipping point phenomenon, is already changing the way people throughout the world think about selling products and disseminating ideas.

I'm glad I bought and listened to this book. Although no gound-swell of wisdom overtook me, the book caused me to think. What else can you really expect these days. Easy listen and well-told.

Intriguing and thought-provoking. Regardless of how one feels about this massive retailer, its place in the global business community and its effect on our culture are undeniable. Whether a driving force on culture or merely a reflection of sociological change, the book provides significant food for thought and conversation. Well worth the time.

No Real News
Revisado: 07-17-06
Eat right and exercise. Although the author mentions that there is more to the book; that's the essence. The devil is in the details, however. It is the definition of "eating right" with which we struggle. Downloading the book doesn't get you the "lists" that are necessary to actual follow the good doctor's dietary prescription. You might be better off getting this one at the library or buying it at a discount bookstore so you'll have the details you'll need.

Imagine it were possible to bring the characters from a book to life. Not like when you listen to an audiobook with such enchantment that the characters seem to jump off the pages and into your bedroom...but for real. Imagine they could actually climb out of the pages and into our world. Then imagine if those characters brought their world into ours.

Good Travel Book
Revisado: 07-17-06
The book helped my 10-year-old easily stay awake through several long drives. The story was captivating and interesting. The language was a bit rough at points but I suppose could be explained because it was the "bad guys" using that language. All in all, a good listen - good enough that I've purchased the sequel for more long drives.
