Awesome Sauce!

I was definitely very impressed with this final edition to Jake's Magical Market. It was very interesting to see how JR Mathews wove so much into one book. There was definitely a lot of narrative in certain parts but it was done so tastefully that I didn't even care. It was nice to feel that the book came to a resolution that was satisfying and felt like it wrapped up a lot of the questions and timelines as well.
Great work and I look forward to more from this author soon.

Historia
The long-awaited sequel to Jake’s Magical Market is finally here—and now with more market! Well, not quite yet. First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power.

WOOOOWWWWW!

To be honest, I had pre-ordered the book because I absolutely loved the first Jake's book and the Portal to Nova Roma series. Mostly because of J.R. Mathews idiosyncratic style of storytelling.
I was not aware that they had changed the narrator until I first started to listen.
My first reaction was outrage!
How dare they! (Think a little child throwing a tantrum) Seeing as often when the narrators change in a book the feel of the characters change. Let alone the voices are drastically altered, because the author and narrator just went at it like it was the first in the series.
Well, that is not the case in this audiobook. First off I really appreciated the disclaimer right at the beginning because I was getting ready to throw my phone at something! (Just kidding) Then I listened to J.Rs explanation and decided to put my faith in the man.
Thank the mighty God Jake! Oh he would hate that. Suffice it to say I was not disappointed. John's ability as a replacement narrator was superb. Not only did he grasp the feel, style and voices, he brought the book his own flair and unique flavor while knocking it out of the park! He has great sense for timing, cadence, tone, and drama while keeping alive, the crass, snarky sarcasm, that is Jake.
In regards to J.R himself, my hat is off to you my good man! He is a masterful storyteller, who really knows how to bring to life his charectos and worlds in such vivid colors, you feel like you are right there with them on the journey. His universe building, character development, flavorful imagery, deep imagination, and fantasy nerdiness are super dope sauce! Thank you for your rich and passionate storytelling and I thoroughly look forward to whatever you create next.

Lovely Story
Revisado: 01-19-24
To be honest when I first started listening to this book I was a little uncertain, mostly because I am snob about narration. Once I heard the narrator doing voices though I was comforted by his skill and embodiment of the individual characters. That being said I still feel like he could work on varying his pacing and tonal inflection while narrating.
Now as far as the story goes I was pleased with simple but elegant style of writing as well as the characters and overall storyline. Initially I felt like The MC was a bit naive but I just realized he was an extremely kind and considerate individual. Yes still naive but likeable and enjoyable to see how compassionate he was and I appreciate his ideals.
As far as story telling goes I felt very satisfied with the story Arc and was content with the ending. I didn't feel like anything was left unanswered or dissatisfied with the group's final choice.
All in all this is a fun, enjoyable, happy story, (for the most part) and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable adventure.
Thank you T.A. Bruno!
