Historia
Esme is a start-up success who runs her own successful media company and heads up a series of investigative podcasts. She also has a beautiful home, where she lives with her sister, Michelle, and her son, Zachary. Sure, there’s an ex-husband hanging around - Owen likes to pop round a bit too often - but everything is civilised and amicable. She has life all tied up. But Esme knows that any successful podcaster is only as good as her last story, so she sets out on a new series of interviews to get to the truth behind Simone Fischer’s high-profile murder of her husband.

Hard time listening
Revisado: 12-18-21
I really don’t have anything too helpful to say other than Esmee’s accent is but horrendous and hard to listen to. I don’t understand why they’d hire someone with that accent. It’s so unpleasant. I’m sure this sounds like snobbery, but I’m not British. Also, Zachary is such an annoying little brat and Owen is just really hard to take. I haven’t finished the book yet but, for these reasons, I might not be able to finish.

To her adoring fans, Emmy Jackson, aka @the_mamabare, is the honest “Instamum” who always tells it like it is. To her skeptical husband, a washed-up novelist who knows just how creative Emmy can be with the truth, she is a breadwinning powerhouse chillingly brilliant at monetizing the intimate details of their family life.To one of Emmy’s dangerously obsessive followers, she’s the woman that has everything—but deserves none of it.

I could have vomited several times while listening to this book. What the villain does to the baby, bear, is... I couldn't listen to it. It made my throat close up. I have a baby, so maybe that's why. But if you're sensitive or if you have a baby, I'd pass on this. The sickness is beyond the pale. It could SERIOUSLY trigger someone.

Historia
Esther Ann Hicks - Essie - is the youngest child on Six for Hicks, a reality television phenomenon. She's grown up in the spotlight, both idolized and despised for her family's fire-and-brimstone brand of faith. When Essie's mother, Celia, discovers that Essie is pregnant, she arranges an emergency meeting with the show's producers: Do they sneak Essie out of the country for an abortion? Do they pass the child off as Celia's? Or do they try to arrange a marriage - and a ratings-blockbuster wedding?

Skimmed the surface
Revisado: 07-28-20
Honestly, this book has a fascinating premise and so much potential, but it barely develops or skims the surface of Essie's character/story. Instead, we're subjected to Liberty Bell's story, which should be a book on its own. Right now, it's just a distraction.
We never really get to know anyone in this book. The characters are flat, but my god, there was such opportunity here to write such complex and fascinating characters. Overall, reading this book felt like reading the cliff's notes of a much more interesting story.

Historia
A young woman haunted by a family tragedy is caught up in a dangerous web of lies and deception involving a secret society in this highly charged, addictive psychological thriller that combines the dishy gamesmanship of Gossip Girl with the murky atmosphere of The Secret History. One summer day, Grace Fairchild, the beautiful young wife of real estate mogul Alistair Calloway, vanished from the family’s lake house without a trace, leaving behind her seven-year old daughter, Charlie, and a slew of unanswered questions.

Meh
Revisado: 07-23-20
The main character, Charlotte, was flat. The depiction of wealth was cliched. The story was convoluted, and frankly, not very interesting. The characters simply weren't complicated enough. It's almost like a YA book.

Historia
Marianne has a life others dream of. A beautiful townhouse on the best street in the neighbourhood. Three bright children who are her pride and joy. Sometimes her past still hurts: losing her mother early, growing up in foster care. But her husband, Simon, is always there. A successful surgeon, he’s the envy of every woman they’ve ever met. Flowers, gifts, trips to France: nothing is too good for his family. Then Simon says another woman’s name. The way he lingers on it, Caroline, gives Marianne a shudder of suspicion, but she knows it’s nothing - she can’t entertain this flash of paranoia.

Really maddening book
Revisado: 10-29-18
I usually agree with the majority of reviews on audible, but reading this book was a miserable experience. It's tiresome, rambling, manic. The narrator is a victim, but her character veers between two personalities in an unrealistic way. I love sick thrillers, but this isn't a thriller really. There's no mystery here. This is horrible abuse and it's apparent throughout.

Emma has a job in television which is distinctly less glamourous and exciting than it sounds. She's managed to claw her way up the ranks from Tea Maker and Rubbish Collector to Second Assistant Director (heavy on the assistant. Even heavier on the second.). So when she finds she's accidentally very pregnant and at the same time accidentally very sacked (well, less accidentally: she did tell her boss to stick his job up his bum), she knows things are going to have to change.

Entertaining but lots of fat shaming
Revisado: 09-02-18
Really an enjoyable book but filled with so many cruel fat jokes I could barely listen. This isn't just that whole cliched chick lit humorous fear of eating carbs thing. This is full on hatred and disdain on the part of the main character for another character, Martha. It's not in anyway a social critique either (Emma never really learns); it takes what was already frankly lowbrow (though enjoyable) and makes it even more so. It's in terrible taste and shame on the author.

Historia
From the London pop scene, to the opera stages of Europe; from a tiny Greek island, to a stifling manor house full of secrets and deceptions; from the sun-drenched Queensland coast, to the silent outback; Angela and Ellie are two women both looking for something. One in search of her identity and her memory; the other in search of the love that she had and lost; theirs is a duet whose last note will not be sung until the heart-stopping climax, when a shadow from the past returns to claim them both.

I think the author got a little carried away with plot here. Too many coincidences. Too many plot lines. Still an enjoyable listen, though.

Is it just me or is Tilly an absolute moron? Her level of stupidity seems unbelievable to me, but it drives the plot, which then makes the plot feel ridiculous.

Historia
It's been over a decade since Nora left her hometown of Scupper Island, Maine, and very seldom looked back. She's carved out a successful life in Boston, where no one knows her as the awkward girl with the delinquent sister and the dad who left, but a not-as-dramatic-as-it-sounds brush with death has her taking stock of her life. Inspired to reconnect with her prickly mother and snarky teenage niece, Nora returns home for the summer, where she's forced to face the people she's spent the last ten years trying to avoid.

Xe Sands' voice is so annoying. I loved this book and the last two by this author but Xe Sands bizarre cadence is really working on ruining these for me.

What was most disappointing about Robyn Harding’s story?
Jeez, what a convoluted downer that was. Everyone was awful, nothing was interesting, and the experience of taking it all in was miserable.
