Historia
Nobody knew where it came from. Nobody knew why it came. When an eight-foot-tall man made of stone appears in the middle of a busy city center one July afternoon, two-bit (and antisocial) reporter Andy Pointer assumes it's just a publicity stunt. Indeed, so does everyone else...until the Stone Man begins to walk, heading silently through the wall of the nearest building, flattening it, and killing several people inside as a result.

Historia
Intelligence is usually seen as the ability to think and learn, but in a rapidly changing world, there's another set of cognitive skills that might matter more: the ability to rethink and unlearn. In our daily lives, too many of us favor the comfort of conviction over the discomfort of doubt. We listen to opinions that make us feel good, instead of ideas that make us think hard. We see disagreement as a threat to our egos, rather than an opportunity to learn.

Historia
So, remember that whole 'send Montana to the capital—he's ready for prime time' plan? Yeah. That might've been a little bit hasty. Our hirsute hero really stepped in it. Like, is on the verge of losing his dukedom and everything he's worked for stepped in it. The only way out? A little-known technicality that stops Senate proceedings and sends Montana off on what's most likely an insurmountable quest. One where odds are good that he'll either die without a respawn or accidentally commit treason against the Empire.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Historia
I wasn’t supposed to survive. The station has been hit. Everyone around me is dead. I have 11 hours of life support left and no way of contacting Earth. I’m alone. I’m stranded. I’m desperate. But I’m alive. The more of the station I explore, the surer I get that this was no accident. Someone did this, and I don't think they're finished yet.

Redundant and redundant.
Revisado: 02-06-23
Very good premise. However the redundant restating and re-explaining of the story line was so frustrating. The main character would reexplain the same concept over and over again as if it is the first time he is mentioning it. It was infuriating in part because the actual premise is very interesting. Several times I thought the character should just shut up already and get on with the story. Over an over again through out the story the author kills my interest with the constant over narration of the motivations in the story.

Ridiculously slow and mundane
Revisado: 01-31-22
Great premise and lots of promise. The story was lost in the minutiae of needles details and moments of silly implausibility. I think it was the moment the one of the female characters performed fellatio on an alien that I said enough was enough.

Really fun story with excellent character development. Great side character development. Really sets the table with a broad narrative. Follows through on the narrative throughout the series. Seriously my favorite fantasy book! We need more sequels!!

Smart science bad psychology
Revisado: 12-16-20
Good science and interesting plot.
However the characters were not believable. Their dialogue was simplistic and their reactions to situations was not believable. Many of the characters were ridiculous and very unlikable. Had to stop about half way through as the character development became to painful to continue.

Historia
Set against the turbulent backdrop of the near future, The Ruins of Mars opens on the discovery of an ancient city buried under the sands of the red planet. Images captured by twin sentient satellites show massive domes, imposing walls, and a grid work of buildings situated directly on the rim of Mars' Grand Canyon, the Valles Marineris. With the resources of Earth draining away under the weight of human expansion, a plan is hatched to reclaim Mars from the cold grasp of death.

Great idea horrible execution
Revisado: 06-11-19
This book was slow and boring. The concept/plot is very interesting. The voice doing the reading was boring and had very odd timing in his delivery. Really tended to distract from the story. The ending was meant to be a cliff hanger. It was so unsatisfying that I will not listen to the next book. Over all fairly frustrating experience.
