I tried to like this story. Interesting premise. Several people get roped into a recovery program that promises results in a week as long as they don't tell anyone where they've gone. So, they head off to an island monastery and are faced with weird challenges each night. And monks who might not be what they seem. Meanwhile, their freaked out loved ones, who haven't been told a thing are, well, freaked out. Again, I tried. But the whole thing was so strange I skipped to the end to find out what happened. And was left uninspired.

Kinda rough but worth the listen

I tend to shy away from gangsta/cartel/dark mafia reads - too much "guy treats woman like s**t and she loves it." There's plenty of that in this book but I'm intrigued by the FMC. She's tough. She's broken. She's a fighter. She's lying to a guy who demands honesty. And yet I'm oh so curious about what's next for her. Does Jaguar secretly care for her? Can she survive him and get what she needs? The book ended on a major cliffhanger but I'm willing to wait to find out what happens next. And the narrators were amazing!!! They brought the whole story to life.

Sara Samuel's is an outstanding storyteller. This story added depth to Balthazar's character in unexpected ways! Each book in the series gets better and better as layers unfold. Bravo, Sara!
Liam Price's narration was exceptional. He really embodied Balthazar. I could listen to him all day.
Sarah Sampino's narration was nothing special but it did not detract from the story.
Again, great job Sara Samuels. You brought this villain story to life!

Olivia and Roman's saga gets better and better. This was the best yet. Liam Price and Sarah Sampino brought glorious life to Timebound, giving each character a unique voice. I can't say enough about this series! If you haven't started it, run, don't walk, and start listening today!

This book is listed as a "gripping psychological thriller." With a twist. There was a twist, alright, but I was never "gripped" by anything other than curiosity to see what farfetched thing happened next. And that ending. Please. She does what? No. Not in real life, anyway. That was the most unbelievable part. Glad it's over.

So So Story

I love these authors and know they can write compelling books. But this one barely held my interest. There was the creepazoid therapist. The gullible victim. The hapless horny husband of the creepazoid therapist. The story plodded along and I nearly DNF. But I gamely kept going only to be met with a dramatic but cheesy ending. A lot of people enjoyed this book though and you might be one of them. It just wasn't the book for me.
