This book was not well written. The phrase "An in that very moment..." must have been used 20+ times. So often, in fact, that I noticed it and it became a trigger for me. The female character was so annoying that I almost quit the book each time she spoke. The firearms and hunting descriptions were pretty well written and I liked the dog. However, I found the whole premise of the book to be way too farfetched to be remotely believable or engaging.

Shallow. Lacking detail and emotion

I wanted to like this series, but it was so shallow. The characterization was poor and there was no emotion expressed. Spouses, parents and love interests die horribly and our three heros keep on trucking with no remorse or emotion. The story jumps from action scene to action scene with barely a break. Tiresome after a while. The heros put themselves in danger unnecessarily and constantly with poor tactical awareness constantly and don't learn. But they always seem to come out unscathed.

One of the best Zombie series ever

I was engaged the entire series except for the first few chapters of book 1. Pro tip - skip ahead until Peter has returned from school. Nothing before that adds anything and it is painful to listen to. Other than that, I was completely compelled for the whole series.

Brutal, Funny, Relevant, Action Packed

Stick with it, the story improves with time. It provides shocking insight into the lives that some people live under repression in the Middle East. Disturbingly violent and graphic at times but also quite funny. You even begin to relate and root for the veteran torturer from the Muhabarart by the end. Very different but I really enjoyed it.

Not Typical Koontz, Not Gripping at All

The story just did not grip me in any way. I actually double checked after several hours to see if this was Dean Koontz, because it is such a departure from his usual thrilling prose. I found myself not wanting to listen to this audio book at all and I ultimately abandoned it....

Suspend Disbelief

It's way too fanciful and based in utter imagination for me. In that realm anything is possible and nothing believable or engaging.

Great story but no ending.

Really enjoyed listening to this, was fully engaged in the story and the narration. Then it ended, mid-story, with no “Book 2” available yet. Highly disappointed.

Juvenile Writing

The writing is unbearably juvenile. It's hyperbole on top of hyperbole. I tired to re start this story twice and I just could not bear to listen to it. Everything is described at the best, the biggest, the brightest the most ever. Lazy and child-like.

Depressing, couldn’t take anymore

What not clear is that the story is set in Sweden. After 1:45 hrs I was depressed by it and had to stop listening.

The best "Zombie" Tale

I have listened to almost 350 books on audible and this must be one of my top ten for sure. A definite new take on the Zombie genre and a great one. The characters are very well developed and likable and the story never disappoints or gets old. Just buy this and enjoy - a lot.
