As a medical student just dipping my toe into the ocean of healthcare, this book was both deeply relatable and profoundly thought-provoking. Dr. Fisher interweaves his personal journey as a cardiologist, a son, a brother- with insights on compassion and empathy, physical and metaphysical traits of the heart. The anecdotes and actionable tools he shares reminded me why I chose this path in the first place: to genuinely connect with others and make a difference. This felt particularly timely as I prepare to step into residency.
I was privileged enough to have the opportunity to meet Dr. Fisher, who is not only a brilliant author but also a genuinely kind and authentic person whose passion for helping others is truly palpable. He is an engaged listener and compassionate teacher, and you can seriously feel his heart (no pun intended) behind this work and its impact on the wellbeing of others.
Overall, this book is a must-read for anyone in medicine or anyone striving to bring more mindfulness and compassion into their life. I’m incredibly grateful for the wisdom Dr. Fisher shared, and I know it will guide me for years to come.
