Nice action military fiction

Good action, not too predictable. Very good on military culture, character development and human interest for this genre. Very outdated C2, intel and aviation details for USMC. Recommended for entertainment.

I wish Clay had put more time on the solutions and spent less on some of his stories. Example: how do Republicans shape an abortion message that resonates with the 80% or highlights the Democrat party’s insistence on laws that allow post or up to birth abortion.

Almost abandoned due to vocal sibilance

Story was fine space cowboy listen, bur the AFTRA narrator had truly excessive vocal sibilance, where any “s” sound was sizzled out blistering my hearing. Definitely of the House of Slytherin. I don’t know if the narrator moderated this speech issue or I got used to it. Awful ssssassszzzzzzzzzs…… Storytelling seemed to hop from place-to-place with few queues, otherwise good character representation for such a diverse characters.

Difficult to stick with

Not worth the time, love Narrator. Focus is on interminable self-guilt and depression by the protagonists.

Not much here

Love catching up, and closure; but there needs to be some ‘beef.’ This was many hours of chats at ‘starbucks’, an elevator or the golf course. Even meetings were totally casual. No intrigue, fights between ambitious peers. Just endless dialog I often faded out of to find I’d been tuned out for an hour or more but didn’t miss a thing.

30+ Hours of listening to this, no way

A precise, breathy, gushing, effeminate male voice talking about death and destruction is a very bad fit.

Listening to slavic names and titles and then translating them to English and using distracting accents for characters speaking in their native language is an awful method for an audio book.

I scanned ahead, checked different points, but finally returned the book.

Not sure I’m a fan

So it’s taken the ending of two books for me to even consider a third. My library has more David Weber books than any other author. This series hasn’t connected me with the protagonists, has way too many characters with similar names, and reading jumps from people and places without any preamble. Why tell me that place xxxx is comparable to place yyyy in a different universe since there is no reference (checked the forums), map or other construct upon which to file or assess the info? I feel that I need to do homework after each chapter just to sort which of the many characters I need to track. Not on par with any previous books I’ve listened to. Not recommended.

It was a struggle to slog through hours of New Chicago bureaucratic dialog the last couple of Honor books. But to have to hear all of it again, it’s just too much.

Short, feel good, action but simply framed

I like Evan Currie’s works, and enjoyed this tale. It’s more comic book in its framing and move from place to place through the action. Perfect Semper Fi projection and attitudes, my time with the Corps May influence my ratings. Short, feel good, action and heroics but simply framed.
