Really great story
Revisado: 12-21-24
There was only one chapter that triggered me a little as a survivor but honestly I feel the possible triggers are handled really well in the story. The plot was awesome and I didn’t predict things like I often do while enjoying stories.

Historia
I am the servant of a merciless God. I am the daughter of Its preacher. All my life, my power has been controlled by others. They raised me to be meek and stifled my magic. No more. A brutal murder led me to discover a mysterious house full of magic—and the ancient, powerful demon within. He says my power can change the world, that I can kill the evil creature I once worshipped. But at what cost?

Performance much better this time
Revisado: 10-20-24
Loved the plot, struggled to put the earbuds down because I was so invested. The voice actress was way better than in the first book

Historia
I earned my reputation among magicians for a reason: one wrong move and you're dead. Killer, they called me, and killing is what I'm best at. Except her. The one I was supposed to take, the one I should have killed–I didn't. The cult that once controlled me wants her, and I'm not about to lose my new toy to them.

Voice actor annoying
Revisado: 10-16-24
I liked the story but the female voice actor is a little… obnoxious and like a fake snotty socialite at times, doesn’t fit the PNW setting.

Historia
Over the last two decades, there has been an inescapable rise of anger and aggression across our planet. Hate speech has become increasingly prevalent online, Western governments are turning towards authoritarianism and populism, and extremist groups are rising across both the left and the right ends of the political spectrum. Every day, it seems, we're hearing more angry voices and fearful opinions, we're seeing more threats and frightening news, and we're reacting faster and less rationally.

Annoying analogous stories
Revisado: 07-06-24
I struggle to listen to this because the excessive amount of analogous stories to reality feel like they’re written for a 4th grader. It shows down the whole book, and it starts to irritate me because I want the next part of information on it not another stupid “super power” analogy.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Jennnette amazes me
Revisado: 06-15-24
Honestly, listening to this book has given me so much more insight and empathy for my sister who struggled with disordered eating, mental health issues and substance use disorder. The author is able to present her experiences in a way that is impactful, tactful and real and that speaks volumes.

Historia
Social scientist Brené Brown has ignited a global conversation on courage, vulnerability, shame, and worthiness. Her pioneering work uncovered a profound truth: Vulnerability—the willingness to show up and be seen with no guarantee of outcome—is the only path to more love, belonging, creativity, and joy. But living a brave life is not always easy: We are, inevitably, going to stumble and fall.

This book was wonderful and hit home in more ways than expected. I am so grateful for what Dr Brown has created, her vulnerability and honesty.
