Sweet second chance romance 💙
Revisado: 03-02-22
I adored this story.
I loved the characters, the setting - the whole story.
There's something really special about rekindling a romance years later.
The narrator delivered the story beautifully.

Historia
From Lauren Graham, the beloved star of Gilmore Girls and Parenthood, comes a witty, charming, and hilariously relatable debut novel about a struggling young actress trying to get ahead - and keep it together - in New York City. It’s January 1995, and Franny Banks has just six months left of the three-year deadline she set for herself when she came to New York, dreaming of Broadway and doing "important" work. But all she has to show for her efforts so far is a part in an ad for ugly Christmas sweaters, and a gig waiting tables at a comedy club....

I wouldn't expect anything else from Lauren Graham.
I adored most of the story - especially Franny's father. Such a sweet supportive man.
I listened to the audiobook, which is narrated by Lauren Graham. She did a lovely job.

Juliet Blackwell + Xe Sands = A Golden Duo
Juliet Blackwell always delivers a magical mystery full of charm & heart.
I adore Lily and the gang.
I was so excited for this book as, given the title, I was so excited to celebrate with her.
We do get to celebrate...but not enough. Not for me at least.
I loved the mystery. I just wish we had had more to celebrate.
More Lily.& more Sailor.
Still, I loved this story. 4/5 💛
Xe did a wonderful job - as always. Her voice adds to the mystery and ambiance. She's become my favorite narrator.

Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

I loved so much about this story - the importance placed on family & standing up for yourself.
Such beautiful & timeless topics.
What I had a hard time with was the miscommunication...so much miscommunication, or lack of communication.
I still loved it & would definitely recommend.

I'm on a cozy mystery kick and found this story to be charming and delightful.
A late 20 something starting over and finally putting roots down in a new-to-her town, while solving a murder with the help of a cute ghost - yes, yes, yes!

In her first work of nonfiction, the beloved star of Gilmore Girls and Parenthood recounts her experiences on Gilmore Girls - the first and second times - and shares stories about life, love, and working in Hollywood. This collection of essays is written in the intimate, hilarious, and down-to-earth voice that made her novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe, a New York Times best seller.

So much to love! 💕🌟
Revisado: 05-31-21
There is so much to love about this book.
Lauren Graham did a lovely job at describing her journey to a full time career as an actress. She also provides some lovely words of encouragement to those following a similar path.
As a fan of Gilmore Girls, chapters dedicated to the show were especially interesting to me.
I listened to the audio book, which is beautifully narrated by Lauren Graham.
I don't have the physical book so I missed out on all the references to her photos. This is why I am giving it 4/5 stars. I wish they were included as a PDF file.
I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a bit of inspiration on pursuing their dream job - it takes a lot of hard work, of course - and anyone looking for insights on the Gilmore Girls from a firsthand perspective.

3/5 🌟
Revisado: 05-27-21
...I wasn't as big a fan as I was expecting to be...I think that's why I can't give this more than a three out of five.
I have read Leigh Bardugo's short stories. They are wonderfully vivid and memorable. Highly recommend those.
This story, to me, wasn't what I expected. I felt little for these characters, which really surprised me.
The plot didn't captivate me.
The love story felt, off...or flat.
I think it's a me thing...

Historia
Badass Habits is a eureka-sparking, easy-to-digest look at how our habits make us who we are, from the measly moments that happen in private to the resolutions we loudly broadcast (and, erm, often don't keep) on social media. Habit busting and building goes way beyond becoming a dedicated flosser or never showing up late again - our habits reveal our unmet desires, the gaps in our boundaries, our level of self-awareness, and our unconscious beliefs and fears.

A physical copy would have gotten 5/5
Revisado: 05-15-21
I read this as an audiobook.
Jen is brilliant at her delivery in all of her books.
However, given how the book is meant to be used - day by day - I found it challenging to follow as an audiobook.
I also didn't find it as inspiring as her first few books.
This might be because I've been reading more books in the topic of habit development, hence many of her points seemed...familiar.
I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for advice on habit development.
Jen is a wonderful writer and coach. I find her approach delightfully inspirational and manageable.
I will be investing in a physical copy in the near future.

Historia
Sophie Kinsella's debut is a romp through the perils of shopping and spending, spending, spending! Becky can't resist a sale, and she's only a little overdrawn on her VISA. Readers will laugh aloud at Becky's retail adventures as she finds new and creative ways to relieve her increasingly credit card debt. Emily Gray's narration bounces along with Becky and her buying whims, while delivering a humorous account of what happens when credit goes bad.

Hilarious & Timeless 💕
Revisado: 04-26-21
Oh my goodness...this story is timeless and hilarious.
I feel seen and heard.
It made me anxious at times hearing how Becky spent money but that's how it is when your dealing with bad spending habits - "This is the last thing I need. No more spending after this very essential purchase."
I also loved how much of a financial expert Becky is even though she continuously refutes her expertise.
As someone who graduated with a degree she found incredibly dull and boring - Finance - I can relate.
If you are looking for a book that makes you laugh while teaching you a little about personal finance, pick up this book. You'll be hooked.
Btw, did you know that Sophie Kinsella was once a financial journalist? It explains so much!

In the spring of 1628, the Witchfinder of Wessex finds himself a true Witch. As Bess Hawksmith watches her mother swing from the Hanging Tree she knows that only one man can save her from the same fate at the hands of the panicked mob: the Warlock Gideon Masters, and his Book of Shadows. Secluded at his cottage in the woods, Gideon instructs Bess in the Craft, awakening formidable powers she didn’t know she had and making her immortal. She couldn't have foreseen that even now, centuries later, he would be hunting her across time, determined to claim payment for saving her life.

Lovely but lonely 💔
Revisado: 04-26-21
This story was quite lovely, but I found it challenging to progress sometimes as I would find myself feeling quite lonely.
I loved the story's progression of time and seeing Bess in various occupations. But, just as I started loving where the story was going, we would get a setback and loneliness would ensue.
I think that if I were in a stronger state of mind, I would have enjoyed it a lot more.
The storytelling and narration were enjoyable, hence my 3 star rating.
