Historia
At the end of the 1980s, when the Cold War ended, many, including former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, believed that democracy had triumphed politically once and for all. Yet nearly 30 years later, the direction of history no longer seems certain. A repressive and destructive force has begun to reemerge on the global stage - sweeping across Europe, parts of Asia, and the United States - that to Albright, looks very much like fascism.

Timely Read
Revisado: 11-20-24
I found this book to be a very timely read given the current political situation in the United States. I appreciated the history of fascism and the explanation of how historical fascist leaders came to power. It definitely triggered some alarm bells in my mind and I will recommend this book to others who want to be informed by a very smart woman who knew how to engage with leaders in other countries and politicians in our own country regardless of party affiliation. I wish Madeleine Albright were alive today to share her wisdom and experience.

In 2021, Kacie decided to leave her life as a pro dancer in New York City and move to Italy–and she never looked back. Okay, that isn't strictly true… In You Deserve Good Gelato, Kacie reflects on everything from travel fails and homesickness to the joy of culture shocks and the power of doing the s*** that scares you. Because life is too short not to.

Ode to the Beauty of All Things Italian
Revisado: 06-06-24
Having just gotten back to the U.S. after a week long trip to Italy (which ended with guilt-free morning breakfast gelato on the last day) this book affirmed all of the reasons why I want to go back for another visit! I appreciated the honest reflections about the challenges faced in an unfamiliar place and the encouragement that Kacie provides to “Do the stuff that scares you”. I found myself smiling throughout listening to her story as if she were sitting at my table, sharing a Spritz and telling me about her life.

Historia
Alex Toussaint is known for his grueling workouts where he promises “to kick your ass”–yet thousands keep coming back for more. Why? Because he might be the most motivational teacher out there right now. His mantra is “Feel good, Look Good, Do Better.” He expects more from you, and from himself. Yet so much of what he talks about is NOT about the bike.

Great Off Bike Inspiration and Life Lessons
Revisado: 11-29-23
I enjoyed listening to Alex and gaining some insight into how he became the successful person he is today. I really appreciated his vulnerability in sharing his personal struggles and I am inspired by his perseverance and desire to improve in all areas of his life. Alex shares lots of nuggets that readers can apply to their own lives.
